Re: Latest Android TV app DRM broken

@nickk,

Thanks for looking into it. Can you also check the app itself? It shouldn't crash to Home screen.

Re: Latest Android TV app DRM broken

Ok, so now both devices working again. Sounds like a server side issue.

Latest Android TV app DRM broken

I noticed one of my Android TV box has a problem with DRM channels, whenever I tune to a DRM channel, it blacks out for a few seconds and crash to the home screen. This is the box I don't use that often. Other Android TV boxes seem to work fine. Have encountered this kind of thing before (failed to ...

Re: Bad studder in playback - Mi Box

It works better now. I was also surprised that MiBox 3 can play my FIOS 4K channels without problems (we have 3 4K channels this Saturday afternoon all on College football games).

Re: Bad studder in playback - Mi Box

It's ok now but still suck as a live TV viewing device. It should be good for all features including watching recorded shows. Are you seeing a problem? Nick No problem with recorded. You will always see a few seconds of crap before software decoding kicks in and settles down. For live TV and channe...

Re: Bad studder in playback - Mi Box

Installed new app update and those channels indeed play now after switching to software decoding. Whenever you switch to a problem channel, it will glitch for a second or two. Then the app reacts and switches to software decoding. It's ok now but still suck as a live TV viewing device. My MiBox 3 wi...

Re: Xbox series x choppy video

Setup my Series X on a 4K TV and didn't experience any problem with HDHR app. Also played some of my 4K recordings. Very smooth unlike my Win10 desktops which can't play those 4K recordings without stuttering (7th Gen Intel core i7) because it can't keep up when connected to a 4K TV (works fine when...

Re: Bad studder in playback

Yes, as long as the Android TV box is Google Certified which it is, DRM is not a problem. The Onn box is also Android TV 10 and has much better deinterlacing PQ than the MiBox 3 I have when it was on Android 8 (MiBox basically only kept half the frame for 1080i channels). Like I said, there is zero ...

Re: Bad studder in playback

Done. A 5-second recording. I noticed it mostly affect Fox affiliated channels. For example, 720p local Fox is affected but 720p local ABC is not. Local NBC and CBS channels are never affected. Weird.

Re: Bad studder in playback

@Nickk,

PM sent.

Since Walmart now lowered its ONN Android TV devices by another $10. You can get the 1080p stick for $15 and 4K box for $20. I see no reason to hang on this MiBox anymore.

Re: Bad studder in playback

Technically, the MPEG2 decoder didn't crap out so HDHR app can switch to backup software decoder. It decodes but spit out crap frames every couple video frames on 720p channels. This is the same exactly issue back in the days. I just gave up on the streamer.

Re: Latest Google TV (Chromecast) update - HDHomeRun not working as expected

Well, I tried the new app and it makes the Chromecast with Google TV almost like my old MiBox 3, very jitterily, even when I play recorded shows. I think when it switched over to software decoding, the limited processing power of the dongle simply just can't keep up. The problem shows up most often ...

Re: Xbox series x choppy video

I actually deleted Plex after found it can't smoothly playback my 4K rips on Xbox Series X. Something is wrong with the video playback on XSX. No problem with HDHR app
