Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
While Waiting for the SD DRM fix I have been looking into this by Verizon For those that may have Verizon FIOS It only offered Wi-Fi connections and I like to have Ethernet connections But that can be addressed with a USB /Ethernet adapter/converter But I am sure there wont be any DRM issues with t...

Re: Video freezes after a second on 1080i on Android TV
I also own a TVision Hub v2 and it is indeed frozen on 1080i channels, in my case from my Flex 4K ASTC 1.0 1080i stations. It looks like it is the only Android TV device I have that is using software MPEG2 decoding in HDHR app. So looks like software MPEG2 decoding is the problem.

Re: DRM Channels Not Working on Android Devices
On Android devices, make sure you grant location permission to the HDHR app in order for DRM to work. Sometimes, the app will prompt you for it but in my experience, most of time this is not the case. I always manually check and make sure location permission is explicitly granted. Android OS will no...

Re: They're back! MiBox 1080i Issues
Get a Walmart $20 Onn 4K to replace it and you don't have to suffer through the low PQ of software decoding. I also still have mine but rare use it now. If I have to guess, the black list inside HDHR app probably get too long (or a new MiBox firmware update broke it) and this box will be the first t...

Re: DRM protected content not playing on Windows
Duplicate won't work. But to get to the bottom of this, you need to turn on diagnostics and ask SD to look into it.

Re: Summer 2024 Olympics on ATSC 3.0 with Dolby Atmos?
Atmos is object based, not channel based. So, if you decode into just multi-ch LPCM, you no longer have Atmos. The alternative is to decode into Dolby MAT 2.0 which is multi-ch LPCM + Atmos meta data. Almost all Atmos AVRs and soundbars also support Dolby MAT 2.0. I will try to be clear: (1) No curr...

Re: Summer 2024 Olympics on ATSC 3.0 with Dolby Atmos?
Just to update this thread: Using my Sony X900H built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner tune to NBC channel 4 in Washington DC region. Sony reports following for video: 1920x1080, HDR10, AC-4 audio. The picture mode actually is Dolby Vision which is nice. My soundbar reports Atmos audio playback. So, it looks like ...

Re: DRM protected content not playing on Windows
Do you have multiple monitors, e.g. PC screen and TV? If so, make sure it is not on duplicate mode.

Re: Summer 2024 Olympics on ATSC 3.0 with Dolby Atoms?
Are you sure the 4K feed is even natively 4K this time around? In the past, all NBC Olympics 4K are also 1080p upscaled.

Re: List of Supported devices
In that case, see posts above about problems with AC-4 audio when used inside HDHR app with ATSC 3.0 stations. My RockTek G2 has much better AC-4 handling than this.

Re: List of Supported devices
Please be specific which Onn 4K you have:
* Onn 4K 2021 ($20), no AC-4 capability
* Onn 4K 2023 ($20), no AC-4 capability
* On 4k Pro ($50), capable of AC-4 but very unstable when used within HDHR app as posted above.

Re: List of Supported devices
ATSC 1.0 never failed me on my Onn pro yet. But ATSC 3.0 stations do fail from time to time, quite randomly. Hopefully, SD can find some work arounds. 2.0 or 5.1 speaker settings seem to invoke cloud transcoding which results in DD 2.0 audio. We also know Onn Pro has DD/DD+ encoder enabled for anyth...

Re: List of Supported devices
When I set speaker setting to 5.1 on ONN Pro, I got DD 2.0 according to my AVR. Same as 2.0 speaker setting. Only passthrough gets me 5.1 audio but it fails too often resulting to no video and audio.
ONN Pro should be widely available starting today in stores.

Re: Encryption
One device per TV type ATSC 3.0 boxes have a technical enforcement that prevents you from watching outside your home [mission critical DRM restriction]. Specifically they can only connect to the TV via HDMI and there is a limit as to how long the HDMI cable can be. We documented, implemented, and d...

Re: Encryption
Not so sure about that. I have my Android TV boxes that can playback CableCard encrypted channels for quite long time now while Fire devices can't.Once SD gets the android solution certified wouldn't using the fire tv stick be the same secure solution.
