Re: missing channels on fios cable card

DRM channels of course should be labeled as such so that you known it needs special playback requirements, e.g. anything other than SD's app or WMC won't play it.

Re: DVR engine wake windows 10 PC?

From what Jason said above, my take away is that since the clients are always dependent on the discovery of DVR engine to determine where it feeds the live TV stream from, DVR or direct from tuner, they want the DVR engine be up anytime the client is opening. Since the client doesn't send any packet...

Re: kind of off topic -- USB streaming stick suggestions

Modern TVs often have a dedicated USB port to power external devices. For example, my 40" Samsung TV has a port labeled 5v 1A and the other port labeled 5v 0.5A. Stream sticks that require wifi connections typically needs more power than 0.5A to operate properly. For your purpose, the only stick tha...

Re: Method to "remove/ignore" channels found on HDHomeRun tuner?

I have two Primes and can confirm that disabling channels on one Prime does not automatically disable the other. Two are independent. The app will have a merged view of channel list.

Re: 4TB on Android Box how to setup

You are lucky to have the support of exFat or NTFS, or even FAT32. Many Android devices don't support any of those including Google's own devices because they need to pay extra license cost. For example, my Dell Android Tablet and Pixel 3 phones lack such FS support. They are not in the base line OS...

Re: Issues with Rel. 20190621 on my Samsung Note 8 phone

It's on latest June 5 security patch. Android Pie. Just uninstall and re-install the app. Now I can only install June 5 release of the app which works fine now (but probably with broken 4k support). Not able to re-download June 21 release again. While on the topic of my Pixel 3, I found there is no ...

Re: Issues with Rel. 20190621 on my Samsung Note 8 phone

I have got no problems on my older tablets and Android TV devices. It is just my new Pixel 3 that has the issue. The discover.json returns exactly the same on my tablet and the phone. And yet, only the app on the phone complains about the json failure. It is definitely related to the latest update b...

Re: Issues with Rel. 20190621 on my Samsung Note 8 phone

Same on my Pixel 3. Ironically, the update note says fixed device discovery issue. But the fix itself is the one caused device discovery issue. I have another android tablet and not updated to the latest release, it works fine. It is a bad update.

Win10 app works fine

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

I would be surprised that DRM actually works in this app (SD would be having a heart attack if it does). More than likely that the channels you think is DRM protected are actually not DRM channels and the channels that don't work are actually DRM protected. When I was on Cox, CNN was copy-protected ...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

Just found out about the Roku Private Channel and added it. The video is working however I'm not getting any audio. I've tried changing my Roku audio settings to all different options and nothing seems to enable the audio. Also just updated to the 20190417 firmware but that didn't change anything f...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

Help me understand this a little better. If the TV plays audio fine when an antenna is directly hooked up, why would it not work through the HDHomerun app? Is there something about the audio signal that I'm not understanding? OTA uses Dolby Digital (or AC3) audio format. TVs with antenna input are ...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

That will be the problem with your Sony TV's HDMI port. Normally, HDMI handshake will tell Roku what audio formats it can support, much like you get from a Windows PC. If the handshake doesn't work, how do you expect HDHR can do anything different. As mentioned before, Roku system is pretty locked d...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

For the average consumer, I suspect they've never looked at the Roku system menu and they probably won't be able to figure out why the audio isn't working. Actually, on my Roku, the audio setting is set to Auto (the default setting) or Auto-detect. If your device connected to Roku is capable of han...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

Roku devices can't decode AC3 audio. That might be surprised to most Roku owners but it is absolutely true. With streaming services, it is easy for app to request PCM 2.0 audio if you configured so. But for TV tuner, it is not possible. So, your TV or soundbar must be able to decode AC3. Most modern...
