Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

Help me understand this a little better. If the TV plays audio fine when an antenna is directly hooked up, why would it not work through the HDHomerun app? Is there something about the audio signal that I'm not understanding? OTA uses Dolby Digital (or AC3) audio format. TVs with antenna input are ...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

That will be the problem with your Sony TV's HDMI port. Normally, HDMI handshake will tell Roku what audio formats it can support, much like you get from a Windows PC. If the handshake doesn't work, how do you expect HDHR can do anything different. As mentioned before, Roku system is pretty locked d...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

For the average consumer, I suspect they've never looked at the Roku system menu and they probably won't be able to figure out why the audio isn't working. Actually, on my Roku, the audio setting is set to Auto (the default setting) or Auto-detect. If your device connected to Roku is capable of han...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

Roku devices can't decode AC3 audio. That might be surprised to most Roku owners but it is absolutely true. With streaming services, it is easy for app to request PCM 2.0 audio if you configured so. But for TV tuner, it is not possible. So, your TV or soundbar must be able to decode AC3. Most modern...

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

With my Prime on Verizon FIOS, only the local broadcast channels are playable. None of the other channels, though not DRM protected, are playable. This was the case using Roku Media Player to play via DLNA before.

Re: HDHomeRun OTA Live for Roku

The app is still not showing up, have forced updates, several other channels updated, no luck with the beta Models 3900RW and 3910RW firmware 9.1.0 , HDHR4. Thanks for any help you could offer. Looking forward to testing it out. Did you follow the link in OP to register for the beta channel using a...

Re: 4k channels on Verizon Fios

Win10 App works fine now. Funny thing is that when I saved a 30-second clip to the disc via command line, none of other media players can play it without hiccups after a few seconds. That includes Movie and TV app and VLC app.

Re: 4k channels on Verizon Fios

The Xbox One version got updated this afternoon and works fine now. The PC version just got updated and don't have a chance to try it (until tomorrow morning 9AM).

Re: 4k channels on Verizon Fios

Tried 3 different PCs and all of them played only top 1/4 of the screen with updated Win10 App live TV only. One using Intel IGP. One using nVidia GT 1030. One using 6GB GTX1060.

Re: HDHomerun App not tuning to Fios 4k channel on Shield/PC

Didn't work for me either. Tried Pixel 3 Phone, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Android TV boxes. WMC doesn't work either (that's to be expected). The only thing works is via DLNA interface on my Samsung TV.

Re: 4k and Roku support

Verizon FIOS ch 1498 is now broadcasting 4K signal. Currently it is only a single slide (until 3PM ET) but it is 4K video none the less. This is the time to check which of your devices can play 4K broadcasting! I am interested to know who much bandwidth over ethernet this required? Last time Verizo...

Re: Xfinity Activation from Ebay

Did you get a new CableCard from your cable co? CableCard is the one need to.be activated, not the prime tuner itself. And CableCard is not transferable. The previous owner must return the card to his own cable provider. You must get your own CableCard.

Re: Can't play 4K/HDR HDHR Prime Recording

Yep. If OP could provide SD with the file, it would help everyone. I wasn't aware that Verizon offered this 4K last weekend. The channel only plays 4K for the specific event. From what I can tell, the next event is 7/20 evening. That's a few months away and we don't know if Verizon will still carry ...

Re: Can't play 4K/HDR HDHR Prime Recording

From what I can gather, the program is HEVC encoded. For Win10, Microsoft no longer support HEVC out of box. You need to purchase HEVC Extension app in Windows Store for $0.99. So, that's probably the first hurdle to overcome.
