Re: Is the PRIME 6 soon to be released?

We'll have some more official announcement in the near future, but I've been told I can tell people if they ask me about it directly. So, yeah, it's the original PRIME, and it's in production right now. I don't think anything will be changed on it. It's going to be a limited run, as the SOC needed ...

We will have a CableCARD product for sale again in the near future. It's already certified.

Re: Is the PRIME 6 soon to be released?

The question is how log does it really take to develop a 6-tuner device then subtract that from the numbered days of the CableCARD. If they're able to "fast-track" the Prime 6 somehow, you think they would have done that already.

Re: Recording DRM

DRM recording support was never tied to the release of the PRIME 6. DRM support is useful for the original PRIME as well as potential future projects (e.g.. DRM support for the ATSC 3 model if stations decide to shoot themselves in the balls and turn on DRM, or potential future CI+ models for the D...

Re: Recording DRM

Any update? Is this not going to happen? I hate to think I just wasted my kick starter money My cable system has always been full DRM, so I have never been able to record This is a valid question. Is DRM still tied to the advent of the Prime6? We know nothing has been officially announced if the Pr...

Re: Is the PRIME 6 soon to be released?

The story goes back to when we knew we could no longer manufacture the original PRIME, due to one of the key components no longer being made. A "PRIME4" was in development and was almost sent off to certification, but the same thing happened again there with a key component, and we had to start ove...

Re: Is the PRIME 6 soon to be released?

The demand for a 6-tuner device goes back to 2008. Is that where the whole story begins? Correction: Windows 7 hit the market October 22, 2009. I imagine demand and pay-off is significantly lower in September of 2020, especially with the advent of this current announcement. The story goes back to w...

Re: Is the PRIME 6 soon to be released?

You guys have no idea how much it's killing us that we can't tell all of you the whole story. As long as there's any chance of the PRIME 6 still being released, we're going to play it safe and not say anything publicly that might hurt those chances. The demand for a 6-tuner device goes back to 2008...

Re: Is the PRIME 6 soon to be released?

It does seem like this product will never be released. There are some of us who have not cut the cord because it gets to the point you will be close to cable pricing when you add up all the streaming services you will need. Thank goodness Netflix is included with my T-Mobile bill and I have always ...

Re: End of CableCard support - per FCC?

I find it very unlikely that Verizon, Comcast, etc. will kill your CableCARDs anytime soon. Since no cable companies would ever have offered CableCARDs for third-party equipment if the FCC hadn't forced them to, I think they'll kill their use as quickly as they can. Instead of immediately dropping ...

You can't play recordings in progress. That's a dealbreaker for me.
I thought that I read this has since changed. Certainly worth checking.

Re: Plex Commercial Detection updated to skip commercials

I also pointed out that Plex only supports 1 lineup so mixing OTA and Primes is a problem. Nothing against Plex but the DVR is just lacking. In my case I need to share the tuners with the HDHomeRun APP in order to watch DRM so Plex is not an option until they fix tuner sharing. If you are only doin...

Re: Plex Commercial Detection updated to skip commercials

I keep trying it but until they fix tuner sharing with other APPS the DVR is not on par with others.... Also it only supports one lineup. Channels DVR outshines the Plex DVR by a longshot. I'm aware of Channels; my question relates to Plex. You are creating your own issue by using both apps and I'm...

Re: Plex Commercial Detection updated to skip commercials

As the title says, Plex added the option to flag commercials to skip, rather than deleting them permanently. So now if ads are flagged incorrectly the file isn't permanently butchered. Grid guide, commercial detection. Plex is shaping up to be my main driver. Added: Another advantage includes remot...
