Re: Plex getting Live TV support...

"I don't have any first hand experience with Emby, but from the beginning it seemed like they were basically a clone of Plex. It's a lot easier when someone else leads the way" That's an understatement. In reality, Emby, server wise, is light years better and more polished than Plex Media Server. W...

Re: Converting WMC .wtv files to HDHomeRun DVR .ts/.mpg format

Thanks for the advertisement. Just so you know, just converting it to .mpg will not get it to show up in the hdhomerun dvr. The metadata has to be correct also. Mcebuddy takes care of everything automatically

Re: Episodes not recording (already recorded and deleted previously?)

Hi, I noticed episodes of series I had set to record (set to Always) did not record. My guess is that I possibly had recorded these episodes in the the past and deleted them. They were showing up in Tasks as having the red record dot, but they didn't actually record. Looking for confirmation that A...

Re: Hey, SD Where are we at with Shield ATV and DRM Support?

I ask this with all due respect...do you foresee DRM coming to Android in 2017? Don't expect an answer. I asked a direct question about when we can expect to be able to record DRM on Windows and it went unanswered. The best you can expect are vague, non-committal answers. Which would be fine if thi...

Re: Best HdHomerun System with DVR

I am new to the HDHomerun stuff, but to be clear, DRM protected recording does not play back yet on Win10? I had just recorded something off of HBO and it only plays back as a black screen. Can't record DRM on Windows 10 or Xbox. SD says "it's coming" but won't commit to any sort of timeline. Could...

Re: Hey, SD Where are we at with Shield ATV and DRM Support?

Thanks for the detailed explanation. This is very clear. Feature Request submitted to nvidia:) and pointed to this thread. Now just need a few more of us to do same. Did someone start a request thread over on the Shield TV forum or just a feature request through some other channel? I would think a ...

Re: Cheap Windows 10 Box

Is there any Windows stick/box that actually works well for everything thrown at it? Depends on what you want it to do. Me just looking for a low power cheap windows 10 box that'll do 1080p 60hz run plex media player, emby theater, Netflix and of course Hdhomerun DVR UI with mpeg2, h264 hardware de...

Re: Converting WMC recordings

Do these solutions maintain the embedded closed captions?? I gave up on converting my video files, because closed captions did not work afterwards.
Agree space is just so cheap now I also do not convert any recordings.

Re: Help me understand AndroidTv Mpeg2 DRM

From what I have read the big holdup on protected content for android is that none of the devices support HW decoding of protected MPEG2 streams, meaning there needs to be two different approved paths for protected content (SW and HW decoding). How then did the previous "green" app allow viewing pr...

Z83II Mini PC Windows 10 64bit   anybody have experience with this checking it out know it won't do 4k but could be a good 1080i box for less than a hundred bucks. It's using a Atom x5-z8350 cpu with intel hd 400 graphics and includes windows 10. Atom x5-Z8350 Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Z83-II-...

Re: Hey, SD Where are we at with Shield ATV and DRM Support?

Wait a min so the Shield now won't be getting DRM ever? This is not good news at all if true. Very disappointed as I bought two of them. Well it was said most Android TV boxes support mpeg4 protected content. I know Comcast has already transitioned completely to mpeg4, not that it matters for them ...

Does MiBox support protected mpeg2 video decoding?
No unfortunately.
I guess for the foreseeable and maybe permanently the only hope for DRM is Windows 10 and Xbox.

Re: Hey, SD Where are we at with Shield ATV and DRM Support?

I feel like I am SOL too because I invested heavily on Android TV ... Silicondust initially gave the impression that Android would be the first to get DRM recording.

Re: Hey, SD Where are we at with Shield ATV and DRM Support?

Thanks Nick.

Any idea when Google plans to add this? I presume it's in their corner, right?
It is a device feature rather than a Google feature.
That means we are at the Mercy of NVidia (DRM for Shield could be years out if ever).... I guess hopefully windows DRM recording will come soon.
