Re: Dallas ATSC 3.0 is off the air

LLS data seems to be missing. I sent an email to them to let them know.

Re: Minor Question Using Static IP Address

On the laptop, switch the ethernet back to DHCP, then bridge the network connections (right click on Start menu, Network Connections, Change adapter options, highlight the ethernet adapter and the one that connects to the rest of the network, right click, Bridge Connections). This will basically mak...

Re: Difference between Seattle 13.1 and 22.2?

22.2 is more or less identical to 13.1. There might be a very slight quality difference between them, but it's unlikely anyone would be able to tell without watching both side by side on identical equipment. Fox does have an application in to the FCC to move 13 from the Kitsap Peninsula to Capitol H...

Re: Multiple streams, one freq, same tuner?

For additional context, the convention in the analog TV world was to use the frequency of the video carrier when specifying the frequency for a channel. In NTSC system M (US broadcast TV), the video carrier is 1.25 MHz above the lower bound of the channel and therefore 1.75 MHz below the center freq...

Exact same box, just a different mains plug on the power supply.

Re: HDHR and Jellyfin

It's a fork, not a port. Emby was originally an open-source project, and eventually they replaced all the GPL code and closed it. Jellyfin was forked from the last open version.

Re: Can I add Servio to Emby Server's DVR to playback

Of course, if you're scripting it, you can automate the transfer to run overnight and it won't really matter that it's 100Mb/s. It's still fast enough to transfer HD at 6-12x realtime (depending on the bitrate of the channel it was recorded from), so even if you're recording football games all day t...

Re: Troublesome channel has become more so, with Flex

If you asked an engineer who does antenna and feed line design they would tell you that it's a flaw that is intentionally introduced into the design that allows the coax to become a radiator at certain frequencies. Normally, the goal is to design things specifically to eliminate this kind of flaw, b...

Re: Recordings all end up garbled until HDHR hardware is restarted - tachtevrenidis

Too lazy to read back through the thread to see if this was covered, but did you ever try switching back to the old router just to rule out the new router being stupid and broken? TP-Link stuff is usually pretty well behaved, but that doesn't guarantee anything. Even big name brands have screwed up ...

Re: HDHomeRun Prime - Provider cant get it right.

Does "eCM MAC: Unknown" raise a red flag? That's normal for a retail CableCARD device like HDHomeRun PRIME, Ceton, or Tivo. Some cable provider devices have an embedded cable modem (eCM) that is used for two-way communications, and the eCM MAC is the MAC address for that modem. The VCTID ...

Re: Help with setting up new system

TVs are capable of playing MPEG2 from their built-in tuners. This does not necessarily mean they can play MPEG2 via an app, or play it well. The app system may go through an entirely different decoding path that doesn't do MPEG2, or does MPEG2 but poorly (lower quality, goes out of sync, etc.). Neit...

Re: Help with setting up new system

That system is going to make a lousy Plex server. First, macOS is limited to a single hardware transcode at a time. Second, Intel GPU transcoding before the 5th or 6th generation of Core CPUs is known to provide lower quality results, and that system uses a 4th gen CPU. Third, the CPU in there is ex...

Re: Win7 WMC - Added RAM, Broke DRM

Only changing the motherboard, CPU, or HDD should break DRM, not just adding memory, so that is a little odd. You can do a DRM reset without redoing the TV setup. Steps 1-4 and 12-18 at https://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3760 should do it. The ResetDRM program isn't needed most of ...
