If your goal was to play anything other than web streaming TV, Roku was a bad choice.

Re: Dallas ATSC 3.0?

Not really. I've had problems with KDFW for a long time, but it also affects my TV's tuners so I assume it's just something on their end. KDFW has been broadcasting on channel 35 since they first started broadcasting digitally, so they could still be using their original transmitter. Most everyone e...

Re: Duplicate recordings

The JSON data at the start of the file is added by the HDHomeRun DVR and comes from the EPG data that SD receives from Gracenote. Any EPG data provided by the broadcaster is not even seen by the HDHomeRun DVR. You should provide the device ID of your HDHomeRun and the details of a recent duplicated ...

Re: ATSC 3.0 Buffalo NY Feed Issue?

Only DirecTV and Comcast regularly carry live 4K programming from NBC. The only live 4K programming the other providers have carried is from Fox. That's not to say it won't change in the next month before the Olympics start, but I wouldn't count on anything unless and until someone else officially a...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Sacramento, CA

CBS has a bunch of duopolies and hasn't converted any of them. I can't blame them. Better to spend other people's money than your own, especially on technology that has yet to achieve any traction in this country.

Re: Dallas ATSC 3.0?

KDFI returned to full-power operation on 6/1. AFAIK, KDFW was never at low power. They are on the same tower but don't share a feedline or antenna so a filter issue with one would have absolutely no impact on the other. Check your reception on KXTX 39.1. It's on the next adjacent channel to KDFW, an...

The channel guide mapping for ATSC channels is based on virtual channel number and name and the TSID. Physical channel is not used at all.

Re: When is signal strength too high?

Stay under 12dBmV on the strongest channel and you'll be fine. And you probably can't damage the device with actual signal. Damage comes from the usual things that damage electronics, static discharge and lightning strikes. The signal strength values are pretty accurate on regular channels, especial...

Denver's stations transmit from ~2400' above the populated area, vs. the ~950' or so Nashville's towers are above you. Also, despite the large mountains to the west, Denver and its suburbs are mostly flat.

Make a diagnostic capture of your broadcast with this URL: http://10811BAB.local:5004/auto/ch8?format=dbg&duration=60 You may need to substitute the device's IP in place of 10811BAB.local if your network doesn't support mDNS. Upload the capture somewhere (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud, ran...

Re: Spectrum - Columbus OH

It really isn't that complicated, it's just that the person at Spectrum Ohio who is responsible for providing the correct channel lineup to Gracenote is dumber than a sack of shit. I fought this battle and lost back in the FS Ohio days because they refused to understand, no matter how much it was du...
