Re: Symbol Quality Drops to Zero

Strength will be at 100% and quality will drop compared to where it would be at a lower strength. If it drops enough you may start to see symbol quality impacts.

Re: Connect Quatro - not outputting 5.1 audio

What kind of device are you watching on, what audio output are you using, and how are they connected?

Re: Flex 4k ATSC 3.0 "Unable to Play channel: No Video Data"

Can you bypass the amp then re-enable the sending of diagnostic data and run a new scan on the HDHomeRun? If you're close enough that rabbit ears work, you probably don't need an amplifier at all, and it may mask problems down the line.

Re: Chromebook app constantly breaking after Chrome updates

There is no Chromebook app. ChromeOS can run Android apps, but does so in sandbox with heavily restricted access, and this interferes with communications on the local network, in particular the ability for the app to find the HDHomeRun. It has gotten progressively worse over time, to the point that ...

Re: Symbol Quality Drops to Zero

Symbol quality is a log scale of the number of packets coming out of the demodulator with the Transport Error Indicated (TEI) bit set in the packet header. This indicates that the packet is corrupt because the original packet could not be recovered using the error correction data in the broadcast. T...

Re: Symbol Quality Drops to Zero

A lot of things can cause the symbol quality to drop briefly. Dynamic multipath is one. I live a few miles from a major airport, and depending on the weather and which runways they're using, the landing pattern can cross above the path between the towers and me and any time a plane passes the symbol...

Re: Any current Spectrum users here?

There are still some around, although not all that many since most of Spectrum's footprint is DRM-heavy. The question isn't whether existing customers still work though, it's whether they'll give you a card and a TA now, since they almost certainly won't activate an old card or a TA from eBay. And t...

Re: Can I transfer external hd from Shield to Flex 4k?

It can be done with WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) too, if you don't mind some PowerShell. Probably a bit easier than setting up a VM and installing Linux, but still best done only by the adventurous.

Re: Dallas Texas CW 133.1

It has the same problem as Fox, the English 5.1 track has both the English and alternate (usually Spanish) audio, and the Spanish stereo track is silent. And yes, the deinterlacing is severely hosed. They ought to just dump the entire thing and go back to 1.0 operation.

Re: Can a Silicondust employee verify that there is currently a problem with the Philadelphia ATSC 3.0 lighthouse video?

There were some reception issues visible in the logs, but there were also some issues present when you were watching in the HDHomeRun app when no reception issues were indicated by the HDHomeRun so there's something odd going on. Do you see the same issues on the ATSC 3.0 Fox broadcast?

Re: MeTV Toons

Nothing yet, but Weigel is generally good about keeping the guide providers up to date, and they own both the MeTV networks and WCWW, so I would expect things to be in place in time.

Re: Windows 10 HDHomeRun auto start up

There's an easier way to do it. This should work on Windows 10, although I don't have a Windows 10 PC handy to confirm. Open File Explorer In the address bar, put in shell:startup and press Enter Go into the Start menu, right click on the HDHomeRun app and Pin to Start Dragged the pinned tile from t...
