Re: hdhomerun_config_gui_20200521 on OS X

It's GTK2. I don't know how MacPorts does things, but on Linux, it requires the development version of the packages (libgtk2-dev, gtk2-devel, or some similar name depending on the distro) to be installed as those provides the headers needed to build software against them, while the main packages are...

Re: Why isn’t PVR using EIT PF data to accurately start/stop recordings?

EIT data in most countries is pretty useless for DVR purposes. It often doesn't include basic things like episode numbers, and in many places doesn't indicate new vs. repeat episodes, doesn't have images for the shows, and at least in North America, most stations only provide 12-24 hours worth of da...

Re: HDHomeRun Quatro and Synology NAS

Plex doesn't support the transcode engine in the RTD1296 SoC used in the DS118 and other such low-end NASes. Nor does Emby, Channels, or anything else I'm aware of other than the manufacturer-provided video apps. So while Plex will run on it, it won't run well for anything that requires transcoding ...

Re: UK: Incorrect channel lineup on HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO

I have exactly the same problem except that I live on the South Coast of England close to France and when I scan the channels the main viewing channels are replaced by French channels, so BBC 1 is the French TF1 channel and BBC 2 becomes F3 Nord. When I first installed the product for some reason i...

Re: HDHomeRun Prime across a VPN

This is pretty much what Emby and Plex are designed for. They've already solved all your issues, and since they can transcode the video you can get optimal video quality for whatever bandwidth you have available.

Re: Why isn’t PVR using EIT PF data to accurately start/stop recordings?

[removed by moderator]. I'm not aware of any countries other than the UK that actually implement live updates to the EIT data to account for changes in sport and other live programming. Additionally, there's a very good chance that the EIT data and the EPG data from Gracenote will use different name...

Did you run as administrator? It will still report OK on a non-admin command prompt/powershell but won't actually make the change, because Microsoft.

Re: A technical problem is preventing you from receiving all the cable services

The specific text is dictated by one of the CableCARD standards. The numbers are supposed to tell you exactly what went wrong with the CableCARD. There are some codes that have meaning, like -64 means some moron gave you a single-stream card instead of a multi-stream card. -0 basically means undefin...

Re: HDHomeRun Mesh WiFi Discovery Issues

I've mentioned it elsewhere, but Asus seems to be one of the only big names that actually has a clue what they're doing when it comes to mesh networks. They just seem to pass everything and not try to outsmart devices on the network. Netgear tries to outsmart things but isn't actually smart so it ca...

Re: Cox Phoenix new Tuning Adapter Firmware

Now someone just needs to convince them to turn off DRM on non-premium channels. I almost respect Cox for pushing forward on new technology in a smart way, between moving some channels to AVC and implementing 1GHz systems, and now dumping legacy OOB for DSG in order to expand upstream bandwidth with...

Re: Cable Channel Scan parameters

Single-tuner scanning doesn't exist, at least in a useful fashion for updating the website or xml/json data. The scan that updates the stored data on the device always uses all tuners, period. The hdhomerun_config scan doesn't update information stored on the device and is generally only useful for ...

Re: 5.1 Dolby Digital what device?

First, make sure you actually need DD passthrough. When connected directly to a receiver via HDMI, most devices can pass 6 channel PCM, which will give you equal sound quality to what you would get by passing through the DD without the hassles of actually making passthrough work. Passthrough is only...

Re: UK: Not labelling Two Channels as HD

Both channels are only broadcast for part of the day, sharing bandwidth with other channels (CBeebies HD and QVC HD, respectively). The channel scan can only determine the channel information if it's on-air at the time you scan, so if you scan between 19:00 and 03:something you'll get BBC Four data,...
