Re: A3SA maintenance notice - May 29
I believe in always having a backup, a difficult proposition given the uncertainty of when, if, and how for 3.0. Today I have an antenna pointed at the 3.0 tower with a device that decodes the DRM feeding one HDMI input on the TV. It also picks up many of the 1.0 stations 90 degrees away. I have ano...

Re: A3SA maintenance notice - May 29
Greenville, SC. All 4 networks, 3.0, are on one tower close, to the South. Otherwise no one around here gets ABC 1.0 as it is too far away for a window antenna. All four of them, 1.0 are on different bearings but generally NW to NE, up in the mountains. I am not sure anyone can live in an optimal lo...

Re: A3SA maintenance notice - May 29
No, no, no....I just want to watch and record TV with information about the shows now and in the future, also with channel signal strength available realtime with the push of a button. And, I want to be able to do that now and in the future with ATSC 3.0 because it has already happened where I live,...

Re: A3SA maintenance notice - May 29
Well, I appreciate the bigger picture information. It tells me that even those devices that can decode "may" be in jeopardy. It sure looks like anyone trying to use OTA is at the pointy end of the spear.

Re: Roku unable to change channels on HDhomerun - dp0pc
I find Shield is superior in many ways. I have been on a journey with streaming, some services blaming my network even though other services worked perfectly. I started just using my Smart TV, then 2 other streaming devices, including the one you ask about, that solved the problem with ethernet into...

Re: Encryption
In my market area, Greenville, SC, very few OTA viewers can pick up ABC 1.0, however, the 3.0 tower is right here and all of the networks are on it, except that NBC and Fox are encrypted now. They are readily receivable in 1.0. Unfortunately there is nothing worth watching and recording on ABC, alth...

Re: Encryption
Are there really any boxes today that provide ATSC 3.0 decoding AND recording/playback of 3.0 programs? If so, a box that uses the home network for multiple TV's? I see there is one that provides decoding and a pending update to use multiple TV's but promises a future capability of record/playback o...

Re: Encryption
I do not really understand what there is to hope for? It seems to me that the FCC enabled this and the broadcasters interests are represented by the industry group setting the standards. Consumers like us are left sucking air unless or until there is a group/lobbyist/grass roots effort to convince t...

Re: Current state of Apple TV app
My 2 cents....I just moved to HDHR from the new *****, admittedly on Android. HDHR has demonstrated much better performance and technical support. I cannot recommend ***** at all.

Re: Encryption
Ha! Back in the good old days where I lived there were 4 channels, ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS, 3 VHF and one UHF. Network shows were scripted and we only used the VCR because we couldn't stay up late enough to watch all of the network shows.

Re: Encryption
I wrote my congressman and signed on to the FCC petition...a lot of good that will do! I am old enough to remember when VCR's came out and there was freedom of the airwaves; none of the broadcasters complained about viewers skipping commercials..or whatever the complaint is today. I just have a hard...

Request for guide improvement
I could have posted this in another thread but I wanted to be sure that Nickk sees this. I have only been a part of the community for about a month, having moved through several other TV solutions over the years. I am really enjoying the HDHR, using a 1.0 Flex 4 channel and a 3.0 Flex. I live in a c...

Automatic rescan?
Is the Flex software setup to automatically rescan or is something else going on? Periodically, I am seeing channels added to the guide that must have been scanned in sometime when atmospheric conditions were ripe because I cannot pick them up during the day. The farthest one was 120 miles away! If ...
