Re: Encryption

In my use case in the Columbia, Maryland area, I liked the HDHR Flex 4K because I could place my antenna where I needed it and all my TVs and devices could watch using it. The basement TV benefits the most. But I also like sitting out front and on my deck in the back and watch shows on a tablet. How...

Re: Encryption

This paragraph is interesting to me: The new A3SA DVR specification supports in-home streaming to applications hosted on common media consumption platforms such as Android, Fire, Roku, WebOS, and Tizen, with iOS support in process. The spec supports dynamic memory provisioning for media playback (an...

Re: Encryption

So, I guess we’re now waiting to hear back from SD on whether the path to approval with their gateway devices playing DRM live is clearer with this document in hand?

Re: Encryption

I’m not sure why they didn’t mention that they were close to releasing a spec relevant to SD’s product line when they met a month ago. I’m guessing now SD has something they can attempt to comply with. I suppose it’s also good that there’s some weight to the document. However it’s also the first rel...

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

So if I have a Fire Stick 4K on Samsung TVs, is this considered an Android solution in this context?

If it is, and I hope it is, does it suddenly become less clear when Amazon transitions to the new OS I think I was reading about called Vega? Or is that just for Fire TVs?

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

Thanks for setting me straight. So what is the plan and is there some sort of timeline?

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

So believe from a semi-recent post after meeting with the A3SA SD changed tack slightly to get a DRM approvable box into our hands by demonstrating the capability to the A3SA using a JAVA-enabled end point to view live DRM broadcasts to get a win in this space. Sorry if I butchered up the real plan,...

Re: Audio dropouts on Baltimore stations

How frequent? I believe I get them on occasion. My assumption was some audio checkpoint was lost or something on the transmitter’s side.

Re: HDHomeRun app for Samsung TVs (sideload)

Would this support AC-4 audio?

It seems like for the amount of trouble to go through to sideload, you could just buy a cheap Fire Stick 4K and you’d even have AC-4 through that path.

And yeah, I know, currently nothing special about supporting AC-4 on ATSC 3.0. And not even relevant for ATSC 1.0.
