Re: Help understanding Rogue ATSC 3.0 Channel?
Broadcast stations that have channels like OAN Plus, Newsmax 2, AWE Plus or Real America's Voice are actually carrying the audio and video feeds on their signal. In T2's case the audio and video is being delivered over the internet, the only thing on Sinclair's ATSC 3.0 feed is the data needed for ...

Re: Encryption
I'm not sure I understand what Ned is saying here, about the possible someday eventual maybe usability of an $20 ONN Android-based Widevine-based ATSC 3.0 box at Walmart that "will eventually get DRM ATSC 3.0 channels". Does that mean he's predicting that the device itself will someday be...

Re: Encryption
I wish SiliconDust could build an Android player module that could be DRM certified by A3SA to provide the secure path from tuner to HDMI output. It would only be the player and all the controls to the player would be handled by an Android app which would not be required to be certified by A3SA. So...

Re: Encryption
If the device has to get the content from the internet anyway - just publish the URLs on a known Internet site Local stations only have the right to show network and syndicated programming in their viewing area, which is why the live streams on their websites only carry newscasts, local programming...

Re: Signal Strength App

Does subscription free OTA broadcast only apply to the primary channels that a broadcaster submits to the FCC for a license. Does it apply to sub-channels? https://www.streamtvinsider.com/video/sinclair-broadcast-sees-atsc-30-nextgen-tv-entree-streaming-new-revenues it applies to both the main as w...

Re: Encryption
It seems broadcasters want to play like cable networks. So what's the difference between a cable network and a broadcast network? Is there some advantage to being a broadcaster? I know they have some legal obligations such as EAS, E/I requirements, etc. that I'm sure they'd rather not have to deal ...

Re: Encryption
How is A3SA able to prevent the recording of any of the OTA (free public airwaves) programming if the courts have already ruled that consumers can record content for personal use? Isn't this the same reason we have DVR's today? https://legalbeagle.com/6696968-tv-recording-copyright-laws.html That's...

Re: Encryption
Will DRM encrypted ATSC 3.0 channels play on my Android or Fire TV device? Using a gateway product - we expect it will be possible in the future but it is not possible today. The Google Widevine DRM decryption is possible but there are other requirements that are draft/incomplete at this time. Ther...
