Re: Convert AC4 Audio to AC3
At the time when I was playing with this and trying to use TS recordings made by NextPVR from my Flex-4K tuner. NextPVR itself did not handle AC4 audio. That's not correct. NextPVR backend doesn't care about codec so there is no issue recording AC-4 (DRM is another question). There are NextPVR clie...

Re: Convert AC4 Audio to AC3
There was an AC4 audio thread in this forum I no longer see. In it, a Windows app was suggested, with command line, to convert a ATSC3.0 capture w/AC4 audio in it to one with AC3. Anyone remember this tool & method? Thanks. That AC4 audio thread was from 2+ years ago. I learned about this idea ...

Re: Encryption
I've been a user of SD products for over 7+ years, and I love them. Not so long for me. I jumped in with the Flex-4K about 1.5 years ago. Loved it, and still love it... for non-DRM ATSC 3.0 here in LA. I don't use or want a Za$$erbox, but because they are cable to record ATSC 3.0 DRM's content, the...

Re: Encryption
I wouldn't put much stock in their "future plans", given the current restrictions in place. It's unknown exactly what they are really describing. But as I interpret things they are not hindered by wanting to stream DRM content around the network to popular player devices which are themsel...

Re: Super Bowl in 4K HDR
Alas, I didn't contribute to the SD transcoder stats, because my RockTek G2 (SEI804/Homatics/etc) natively transcodes AC-4 to E-AC-3 (DD+). Not really "alas", I guess. You know, I actually prefer the way my ZB M1 (also with local built-in AC4 decoding, like the G2) deals with Ac4 when you...

Re: Encryption
From the first post in this thread: Will DRM encrypted ATSC 3.0 channels play on my Android or Fire TV device? Using a gateway product - we expect it will be possible in the future but it is not possible today. The Google Widevine DRM decryption is possible but there are other requirements that are...

Re: Super Bowl in 4K HDR
CBS in the Detroit area is NOT DRM'd. Didn't know that. But then FOX here in LA is not DRM but I saw that FOX just recently now available in Chicago is DRM. Go figure. I thought it would be network-based, but apparently it's local affiliate determined. I will be watching the game with my ATSC 3 tun...

Re: Super Bowl in 4K HDR
Will be interesting to see if today beats last years record for peak cloud AC4 transcode workload. Unlikely. Last year's SB was on Fox, which is non-DRM. So everybody could watch the game in 1080p (where available) using Flex-4K server tuner/DVR. And if watched through a client device that did not ...

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified
ATSC 3.0 audio is fully supported on Windows with the HDHomeRun app. No codec pack required. Wait... are you referring to the cloud-assisted decoding automatically invoked by the Windows app as what you call "fully supported"? Windows 10 or Windows 11? Yes, it does work and produce sound ...

Re: List of Supported devices
Actually, I'm sure the LG story is that it is 2017+ OLED sets do support AC4. I have an LG C7 and HDHR app runs fine on it with AC4->transcoded->AC3 audio is delivered "pass through" to my AVR over HDMI-ARC (no support for eARC yet in C7 2017). On my C9 there is ARC/eARC support for the HD...
