On my android tv, I just tuned to dateline on NBC (atsc 3.0) and then turned on closed captions. Worked perfect.

You don't have to have a cable subscription to use channels. I am using OTA with free pluto TV. Regardless though, it's not that expensive. Just use the features that you want.

I am using appletv 4k with channels dvr server and it works great. No audio issues on atsc 3.0 channels at all. I am using the beta server version as well as the test flight channels app on ATV. The only thing that is hit and miss is commercial detection on hevc ota recordings. They are still workin...

I've been playing around with the HEVC channels and have noticed that most of the network shows on NBC look better than the ATSC 1.0 broadcasts. Channels DVR says that they are 1080p 60 frames/sec. I was looking forward to watching the Redskins game on Saturday in 1080p but unfortunately it was horr...

All HEVC channels are working for me 110.1, 143.1, 133.1 and 145.1 (just a translator for 110.1). All without issue... They have been rock solid but I am 10 miles from the transmitter and can see it from my house. So I'm not sure if you have having a signal strength issue or not...
