Re: DVR Scheduling: Identifying Protected Content

It really hasn't been an issue in the real world, because the same program typically doesn't play on two different channels (one DRM and one not) at the exact same time. The DVR will attempt to record the two different recording times, so the DRM channel won't prevent it from recording on the non-D...

Re: HDHomeRun Servio - Copy Files Off Device?

Make sure you only have one engine running and that they are a recent version as they detect each other and generally the one with the largest space does the recording. The clients use whichever engine did the recording by retrieving the recorded_files.json from any/every detected engine. For most ...

Re: HDHomeRun Servio - Copy Files Off Device?

You should expect to see something there. Can you record something else and see if it comes up? I figured out the issue but need help correcting it. The Windows 10 machine recordings are going to my old WMC-7 machine instead of the Servio (the "HDHomeRun Record" instance on the my.hdhomerun.com pag...

Re: HDHomeRun Servio - Copy Files Off Device?

I find Firefox works best for this. It will by default give you a collapsed list of everything in the file, but if you click on Raw Data at the top, then Pretty Print, it will give you something that's a bit easier to look at than just the regular wall-o-text. When accessing the "recorded_files.jso...

Re: HDHomeRun Servio - Copy Files Off Device?

easiest way is to retrieve the recorded_files.json and use the PlayURL... nice thing is that on a servio you don't need to know the port the engine listens to as it is the normal one for http. As stated, that was a feature request... the latest version of engine (beta firmware for servio) does disp...

Re: DVR Scheduling: Identifying Protected Content

You generally don't though there may be some screens that indicate channel. The premise of the dvr is to go ahead and set it then when it can record it, it will. At least now the engine doesn't actually record it. Not very helpful (i.e., hardly an elegant piece of software engineering). As you are ...

DVR Scheduling: Identifying Protected Content

Given that DRM-protected content cannot currently be recorded, how do you avoid accidentally scheduling a recording of a protected program or channel? In my initial experimentation with the Windows 10 client I was not able to see how DRM-protected content is identified to the user when scheduling a ...

Re: HDHomeRun Servio - Copy Files Off Device?

Hi, Files can be transferred by doing a http download. We have a feature request in for providing the file list via the device webpages which would make it easy. Nick I now have a Servio on my network as my first step toward moving away from my current WMC7 environment. What is the specific syntax ...

Re: OFF TOPIC - Black Friday / Cyber Monday Savings

There will be BF/CM sales on the CONNECT and EXTEND models, but not on SCRIBE and SERVIO. I meant to ask; are your statements specific to the SiliconDust Shop online sales only? Our online sales and our official retail partners, online and in-store, won't have sales on the SCRIBE or SERVIO. That be...

Re: HDHomeRun Servio with Nividia Shield TV

You can skip the servio if you want and just use the shield to do the recording with a USB3 hard drive attached. I do the same with 2x HDHR CC3 (6 total tuners). Works well, although if you go that route you might want to have the shield wired via gigabit ethernet for reliability vs wifi. Thanks, u...

Re: Optimum CableCard setup process

I am in NJ on the Morris system. Like I said, no notable problems with the initial setup (but it was some 8 years ago!) and there have been no adjustments needed (it just works). The intermittent DRM issue disappeared sometime in 2014 (probably when Cablevision updated the software on the CableCard....

Re: Optimum CableCard setup process

I have been a happy Optimum CableCard / HDHomeRun Prime user for many years. I do not recall any significant setup issues. I have an "NDS M-Card" (NDS s/w version: 3.92.17 Oct 07 2014) There were some issues originally with the DRM not consistently working that required me to setup a Windows Schedul...

OFF TOPIC - Black Friday / Cyber Monday Savings

Folks, I am about to pull the trigger on an HDHomeRun Servio. Is there any informed speculation from the community on the likelihood of seeing Black Friday or Cyber Monday savings on the Servio? I believe this is the first holiday season for this device, so last year does not provide any direct insi...
