Please turn on the sending of diagnostic data on the HDHomeRun and in the app (see https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/troubleshooting:diagnostics) then reproduce the issue. This may not be your issue, but Optimum in NYC area has been adopting SDV requiring tuning adaptors for some channels and eliminating most of the standard definition channels that duplicate content carried on high definition channels. I'm on a shield TV pro but I took off the original hard drive clone it to a SSD 500gb 4 the speed so i would like to Know if I could change the location on where the DVR saves my records like in a external hard drive

Personally unless you need the international or sports programming packages there, I would go without the TA but use the different number (and disable the channel numbers you don't get if necessary)... i.e. 712 instead of 12 as TA's will always be the main source of your problems when you have one ...

Your optimum tech shouldn't be saying such things... cablecards are considered "two way" but the devices they go in (other than the provider's boxes) are unidirectional (thus not 2 way). If they truly need bidirectional, that is what the TA is for and is required to be provided. To answer your ques...
