Re: HDHomeRun Prime across a VPN

Here's someone who got direct access working over the internet with some firewall rules: https://stuff.purdon.ca/?page_id=472 If you don't want to pay for Plex or Emby, there's also Jellyfin which is a free open-source fork of Emby. Finally, another free alternative (if you're not afraid to tinker) ...

Re: Ability to run Multiple Players on Same PC

You could always have one stream open in the HDHomerun app, and then open a second one in VLC: http://joelsef.blogspot.com/2013/10/accessing-hdhomerun-prime-dlna-stream.html I did something like this to watch two sporting events at the same time when I used Windows Media Center (remember when we had...

Re: Help me find best non-PC client for a TV...

This is a very interesting idea. I've been toying with getting a pi for a while, so this may fit the bill. Any idea of audio capability? It's annoying that i have a transcoding extend that can't get around this on its own. If you're asking if the TVHeadend server can transcode audio, it can (video ...

Re: SoCal - lost MANY OTA channels

Probably isn’t the HDHomerun. First, go to rabbitears.info and find your location on the signal search map and view the report — see if that still lists all of the channels you expect to receive. (Some May have changed frequency or broadcast power.) Also, I would suggest you go to avsforum.com and s...

Re: A/V Sync

Is there a reliable way to test the audio/video sync of your app? It seems to off. On what device? Easiest might be to try watching the same content/channel in a different app on the same device (i.e. Kodi or VLC). You could also have it playing on your device and simultaneously watch it through VL...

Re: Help me find best non-PC client for a TV...

Where are you running your TVheadend server? On a Raspberry Pi 4. USB 3.0 drive attached for video storage. Also, gigabit ethernet connection to the router, right alongside my HDHomerun tuners. (Pi 4 is the first Pi with USB 3.0 and gigabit ethernet, so it's finally suitable as a DVR server for me!...

Re: Amazon Fire 4K CUBE 2019 - anyone using it yet?

so if anyone with that new model cube running the latest HDHR app, please chime in ;) thanks I’ve got that Cube but I use Kodi, not the HDHR app. I could test it for you, though — what live OTA content would most easily trigger it? (I don’t have HDHR DVR so I’d need to watch live content to test.) ...

Re: Help me find best non-PC client for a TV...

Same stuff you're referencing... Try the HDHomerun native app on the firestick, and i think you'll probably see why I've ruled it out. Have you considered ruling out the app rather than the device? Watching live and recorded OTA TV is painless for me on a Fire Stick 4K — no HDHomerun app necessary.

Re: Help me find best non-PC client for a TV...

The fire stick is a pretty poor performer, but was cheap. It works pretty well on most apps, but is showing annoying video stuttering on the HDHomeRun app. ... a 4K fire tv is out, due to issues with codecs IMO, the 4K Fire Stick was a pretty significant performance upgrade over the non-4K. Warranty only starts counting down when the unit is powered on.

The HDHR5-4K comes with a full normal one year warranty, just like all of our other products.
Since some folks may not even have ATSC 3.0 signals in their area until mid-2021 or later, is there any possibility of offering a longer warranty term for this product?

hdhomerun_config_gui utility on Windows. I don't know what this is. I have the hdhomerun setup utility. Is that the same thing? I don't see where/how to display signal strength within that app. hdhomerun_config_gui.exe is installed with the HDHomerun software on Windows, but it doesn't show up in t...

Re: Network issue with finding the HD homerun

Also, I understand the HDHomerun packets have a TTL of 3. Do you think your setup may have only had 3 hops when your main router was connected to your main switch, but now it has more than that?
