Re: Pixelization issues despite good signal quality (WJZ)

I am curious: what sorts of information do the Silicon Dust staff see in "the logs" when "send diagnostic data" is checked?

Re: Issues with one channel

Yes, MythTV channel info shows it on 12, so jasonl's assumption of 177MHz is off, it is a somewhat higher frequency, 207MHz, wavelength ~57" rather than 66.68". Half a wavelength is 28.5" which is more on the order of the Terk dimensions, but still sub-optimal.* --- * Ohmigod, the units! When is the...

Re: Issues with one channel

Well I am a physicist, so I bow to the laws of physics. I will look into the coax/better VHF antenna angle. It is true that Ch. 7 has been bugging me for quite a well, so maybe it's simply a marginal situation which occasionally moves over the margin. Thanks to jasonl and NedS for taking the time to...

Re: Issues with one channel

Your post does not seem relevant to my situation: my antenna is a Terk FDTVO omnidirectional antenna mounted on the wall OUTside the window in my house. It gets great reception, most of the time I happily watch perfect recordings of Channel 7, EXCEPT under some circumstances which I attribute to int...

Re: Issues with one channel

Tonight (8/3/20) the KGO 7.1 local news from 5-5:30P was marked in yellow by MythTV, meaning a significantly damaged recording, and it is that, pixelation, jumps, audio smeared out, the whole shebang. Can the SD staff look at the logs and see whether there is any interference or see what is happening?

Re: Issues with one channel

Tonight (8/1/20) the KGO 7.1 local news from 5-5:30P showed definite pixelation and audio distortions during the recording. Apparently it was not so bad that MythTV marked the recording as damaged (coloring the recording listing yellow), but there definitely were problems. I wonder if the Silicon Du...

Re: Issues with one channel

I record the local news on KGO between 5 and 5:30P every night (their weather forecast is always spot on!) A couple of nights earlier this week (Monday and Tuesday?) that broadcast was very messed up. By Murphy's Law as soon as I decided to do something about it (looking up broadcast conditions on r...

Issues with one channel

I live in the SF Bay area, and get my OTA TV with an antenna pointed at the nearby Sutro tower (I can see it from my living room window.) All of the channels I watch broadcast from that tower come in great, but one, KGO-HD Channel 7.1, has issues wherein programs recorded with MythTV are listed in y...
