Re: The HDHomeRun Scribe Duo has been nominated for a Best of CES Award

Given a CES where there was a lot of talk about a hamburger and an alarm clock, the Scribe is reasonably competitive for an award. :D

Re: intrest poll

If I didn't have anything, maybe the Scribe might be of interest...but still probably not. I use Kodi a lot for watching movies, and even use it sometimes for watching HDHomeRun recordings (closed captions play so much better). I wouldn't want a separate box for Kodi. The ability to copy files to a ...

Re: HDHRUtil utilities - A few useful (python3) scripts for those using the HDHR ecosystem

curl http://127.0.0.1:4999/recorded_files.json curl: (7) Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 4999: Connection refused That didn't work on my Shield, either - basically it's telling you that port 4999 is wrong. I went to my.hdhomerun.com (on my PC) and clicked on "HDHomeRun Record" - it sent me to p...

Re: DVR: first impression....

If you don't watch all those PBS channels for anything else, you could hide all but one of them on the tuner.

Re: HDHRUtil utilities - A few useful (python3) scripts for those using the HDHR ecosystem

all i need is the sekrit incantation to program hdhr...so where's the api? The API is described here: https://github.com/Silicondust/documentation/wiki/DVR-Recording-Rules I wrote some simple Python 2 scripts to do that sort of thing here that you can use as examples: https://github.com/blainebauer...

Re: Signal Strength - OTA - with quatro

There was an Android app called "hdhomerun signal meter", but it isn't on Google Play anymore. You can find it on various APK sites if you know how to load an APK app in Android. If you have a laptop, probably the best way is to go to the tuner status as described and keep reloading the tuner status...

Re: Some of us are actually happy

We're mostly happy with it. The DVR works OK. We just use a few channels on OTA so the lack of a grid doesn't bother us much.

All product forums are mostly full of complaints; people don't generally post when things are well.

Re: Amazon Recast no threat to HDHomerun

Possible Way for SD to stream to 4G (please confirm/deny) : Have phone VPN to home LAN, then use 3rd party Android app (since the SD software detects not on WiFi and complains). The software sends a broadcast to find the tuner, which only works on the local LAN - this may not work over a VPN as wel...

Python & Windows scripts for HDHR DVR recordings

I've put together a few small Python scripts to play with the HDHR DVR API. These allow you to do most things via command line. *WARNING* - some of these scripts can add or delete recordings. While I've never had any accidental deletions, I do not guarantee you won't (though if you start with the "t...

Re: Grid Guide

It's certainly not the most convenient thing, but TitanTV provides a good grid guide and you can configure favorites. It can show what is on a specific channel for three days at a time. It just isn't connected to the DVR at all, so if you find something you want to record you'll have to go to HDHR a...

Re: Channels Apps Are Now Free for DVR Subscribers

Can I stop paying the $8 month to channels and pay the $30 year to HDHomerun DVR and still use channels DVR?
No, but Channels has an annual rate so you can save a little money with an $80/year rate.

Re: HDHRUtil utilities - A few useful (python3) scripts for those using the HDHR ecosystem

Thanks for this - I've been thinking of writing a small perl or python script to add a DVR recording from TitanTV - basically a small Windows program associated with .tvpi files that will add the recording to the HDHR DVR. This allows adding a recording via the TitanTV grid. The code you have for di...

Re: HDHomeRun Premium TV

I have a 1TB cap too, with ATT. We use OTA channels with HDHR DVR, DTVNow, Netflix, Hulu, Prime, HBONow, Showtime quite a bit. It varies month to month, but we not gone over about 800GB in any month, even when we stream a lot. We always have the Shield on (for the DVR), and my wife usually just shu...

Re: Channels Apps Are Now Free for DVR Subscribers

This is a great feature - I made some mistakes when trying the Channels app and ended up paying $25 for it even though I don't use it. It doesn't really bother me that much; I'm supporting a great developer and maybe that's putting pressure on SD to build a better UI.
