Re: Closed caption size?

I wouldn't hold my breath. CC handling has been a long-standing complaint wrt SD's apps. It was the precipitating reason we switched to Channels nearly two years ago, very shortly after acquiring our HDHR tuner.

Re: HD scribe Quatro channel low signal

Avoid those USB-powered amplifiers that come with the inexpensive flat antennas all together. They do more damage than help for the signal. We're using Winegard FlatWave Amped antennas in our home. I put them in to avoid the exercise of running coax all over pre-HDHR. We also have one on the main T...

Re: Watching Live TV on a...TV

So, can someone tell me in plain language what I need to do in order to watch live, broadcast TV that is coming in from my antenna thru the Connect box, to the televisions I have that are on my wi-fi network? Do I really have to get an Apple TV or other similar box for each television I have? That ...

Re: HDHomeRun Duo & Quatro: Internal Preamps?

I would install the LTE filter right in front of the HDHR tuner. My thinking being that way it'll also filter-out anything that may arrive via the coax, itself--though that would probably be very little, if any.

Re: HDHomeRun Duo & Quatro: Internal Preamps?

But, there does not seem to be a very low power low db OTA amp out there, or a programmable/SMART one, that i can say control via Bluetooth or wifi and set each db power setting for each channel frequency via an app on my phone. That latter one I suspect you're never going to see. These preamps are...

Re: Warning! Do not update your Mi Box S to Latest Android 9 release

Geez, again ? I was one of those that had one of the original Xiaomi MiBox'. Xiaomi managed to trash those so badly, with Android TV OS 8, that they ended-up replacing MiBox' with MiBox S'. Both mine were replaced when they eventually bricked themselves. So kudos to Xiaomi for stepping up to the pla...

Re: HDHomeRun Duo & Quatro: Internal Preamps?

Hi, Confirming, the HDHomeRun DUO and QUATRO both feature a low noise amplifier (LNA) in the RF input stage. Nick Thanks for the follow-up and confirmation, Nick! Was that added to just the latest generation, or have SD's tuners always had a preamp of some sort? IIRC, it was mentioned at least as f...

HDHomeRun Duo & Quatro: Internal Preamps?

Looking to settle a question raised elsewhere: Do the HDHomeRun Duo and Quatro network tuners have internal preamps? I would have sworn I saw somebody from SD say, more than once, they do, but can't find it mentioned.

Thanks!

Re: Fire Stick 4k

Guess I still won't be buying one of these any time soon. (This is pretty appalling performance on Amazon's part, IMO.)

Re: Apple TV app (tvOS)

Thanks for the update, Matt. Glad it's working out well for you :) I solved my problem less expensively. Amazon FireTV v2 and a J-Tech HDMI/S/PDIF splitter. Switched to the Fancy Bits Channels suite of DVR (running on a Synology DS218+) and apps. Got 5.1 DD on the HT system, subtitles we can love on...

Re: Apple TV app (tvOS)

Sorry for confusion. I realize I only have to purchase the app once. We have 5 TV's viewers in the home, with 2 using Apple TV, most using Android. The $14.99 cost of the app, to only provide OTA channels to 2 of the viewers is still not cost effective. You do realize you pay that only once, right?...

Re: Apple TV app (tvOS)

The cost of purchasing Channels app for 2 Apple TV's is not cost effective as we only use HD Homerun for OTA Broadcasts. I would have assumed you would only have to buy it once for all your ATV devices--assuming they're all on the same Apple I.D.? That's the way Channels apps work for Android TV an...

Re: Apple TV app (tvOS)

Congratulations! :D Thanks! :) I'm so flippin' happy I could nearly wet myself, and no mistake. Now , assuming the SD DVR'ing service works acceptably for us, it's looking like I can realize The Dream. The Holy Grail of Whole-House TV/DVR. The TV At The End Of The Rainbow. TV Nirvana. The Thing And...

Re: Apple TV app (tvOS)

The current Yamahas are pretty nice and have all the bells and whistles. When you start looking make sure to check Costco as they carry carbon copies of the other Yamahas at a much better price than even online. The Costco ones are tag as TSR instead of RX, but it's just a branding thing and the TS...
