Re: Studios Sue Omniverse in TV Streaming Crackdown

This is not so surprising when you consider that Amazon is a member of ACE (Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment), the group filing the lawsuit against Omniverse. With doing what they've done, and that: They've just devalued our Amazon Prime membership in my eyes--and we're not even affected b...

Re: Studios Sue Omniverse in TV Streaming Crackdown

Frankly, I think SD could silently delete every "Omniverse" post/thread here, and make a locked sticky post saying this is a Premium TV tech support and feature request forum only...

Re: Studios Sue Omniverse in TV Streaming Crackdown

TOS VIOLATION: repeated fear-uncertianity-doubt posts. VPN service used for forum posts, does not appear to be a HDHomeRun customer SD, it's your forum, so you can obviously moderate it however you like. But ... "But" nothing. This joker has been moderated several times. It's been explained why. Ye...

Re: "IP Address Expired" in system log

Mind you: I'm not saying your Asus router is necessarily at fault, as opposed to the one port having gone tango-uniform, but that it's been my general experience that such devices are not particularly wonderful. So try switching ports. As for a switch: I've had good results out of NetGear ProSafe se...

Re: Upstream contract dispute

I am not aware of any posts being removed. When text violates our forum rules the text will be replaced with a moderator note indicating that it was done. Nick In my case, my entire message was deleted and replaced with the statement I was violating forum rules. I guess that's not the same thing as...

Re: "IP Address Expired" in system log

Have you tried giving the router the ol' three-finger salute to see if that solves the problem? What kind of router is it? As in a reboot? Yes. It's an Asus RT-n66u running merlin firmware A WiFi router. I am not surprised. Has it had a firmware update recently? Is there a "network link down" messa...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

The problem is cord-cutting has accelerated over the last year, it had accelerated last year over the year before, it's expected to accelerate still further this year, and next, and... Where this impacts OTA providers is they've grown fat and lazy on retransmission fees. As the people who've been pa...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

You guys do understand broadcasters applying DRM to OTA once ATSC 3.x is deployed is not outside the realm of possibility, right? What would the point of DRM on broadcast channels be? Lower the number of potential viewers to suppress advertising rates? That's certainly the effect it would have on us.

Sinclair can roll to their heart's content. I'm not replacing a couple thousand $$$ worth of TVs and stuff for ATSC 3.

Given that SD is probably fairly annoyed with this character, themselves, right about now, perhaps they'll allow a bit more latitude than usual ;)

Re: "IP Address Expired" in system log

I am using static addresses for my, as you call them, network resources (server, hdhr, printer, stuff like that). Do static devices not have to renew their lease? They do. Every address is a lease. But, being as they're assigned a static address value, they'll get the same IP address for every leas...

Re: "IP Address Expired" in system log

"IP address expired" probably has nothing to do with physical connectivity. You are probably using DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) on your LAN to automatically assign IP addresses to whatever asks for one. Problem is: Unless you're using fixed (aka: "static") address assignments for devices, th...
