That would be no different than what they currently do by deviceID (the part that changes in mac is basically the deviceID)
Did not realize that, thanks for the info.

Re: DVR UI is unusable for NFL

Selecting NFL games with the NFL Channel in the mix is difficult to impossible. The selection logic makes no sense. Yep, at some point I hope SD will recognize that they need more configuration options. It appears to me, that SD equates more options with complexity so they try to ignore as many use...

Re: HDHomerun DVR force default use for specific Tuner

So I read in another thread about how the MAC address is formed. It seems to me that the MAC address could be used to determine newer devices versus older devices if the MAC address is assigned sequentially based roughly on manufacture date. So that could work also.

Re: HDHR App Blown to hell since last update

@psuKinger, I reported your item #1, along with a video of it happening, over in the New UI section a week or two ago, and it was acknowledged by SD. I'm really surprised at how few of us have posted about this annoying-as-hell issue. I've also experienced your item #2, but figured it was related t...

Re: HDHomerun DVR force default use for specific Tuner

I can assure you, a setting for manual tuner priority will never happen. The boss will not go for it, and I don't blame him. . . . . Yep, I can see that as a problem. Makes sense now. But I am curios why? It's not much work. Most people that want the illusion of "It just works" capability, which se...

Re: HDHomerun DVR force default use for specific Tuner

I think what Neil means to say is that the sensitivity of the tuners can vary from one to another. I have serviced TV receivers for many years and RF tuners do require a certain amount of 'magic' to peak properly. There can be variance between identical models. Granted things are a lot better than ...

Re: HDHomerun DVR force default use for specific Tuner

. . . . The RF is digital as well. ATSC is a digital standard that replaced the analogs standard, NTSC. . . . . Not really, an RF signal is an electromagnetic wave that varies continuously from zero through max amplitude through zero, through min amplitude and back to zero. The frequency with which...

Re: HDHomerun DVR force default use for specific Tuner

The DVR will always start with the lower-numbered device. There's no way to force a specific one to be used. Well it should be just the reverse. It should use the highest serial number first as that will ensure that the most recent hardware is being used. It makes absolutely so sense whatsoever to ...

Re: HDR-Homerun Signal Meter--Where is it?

The GTK GUI was specifically designed back in 2008 to be cross-platform for both Linux and Mac. There have been only a handful of changes to it since then, and it's quite possible that nothing at all has changed with the GTK libs it was packaged with, because it just worked. If you think replacing ...

Re: HDR-Homerun Signal Meter--Where is it?

@neil459 "Thanks" for the tickets. I'll try to update hdhomerun in the next couple of weeks. It is likely to be longer before I can have a go at the hdhomerun_gui port. I don't think SD does any testing of the portion of the code on macOS. It was more happenstance that it used to work. It is quite ...

Re: HDR-Homerun Signal Meter--Where is it?

The command line program is included with all versions of the Mac software, and is distributed in source form as libhdhomerun. The Mac GUI is actually the same as the Linux GUI and is provided in source form on the Linux downloads page at https://www.silicondust.com/support/linux/ . It's based arou...

Re: HDR-Homerun Signal Meter--Where is it?

The last Mac version that included it was 20180817, which can be downloaded from https://download.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/hdhomerun_mac_20180817.dmg . There was never an official app for Android or iOS. I just download the recommended dmg and there is no separate installer. One has to downgrade t...
