Re: Encryption

Regardless of what happens with ATSC 3, we still desperately need a replacement for 1.0. The DVD-era encoding used as obsolete and inefficient, which means a waste of radio spectrum and everything that is recorded taking up much more space than it needs to. Unless of course you choose to re ...

Re: Encryption

I personally just use it for local and international news, but that's besides the point. I bet some of the spectrum could be reallocated for more useful things like 5G if we had better encoding.

Re: Encryption

Nexgen Certified TV's have the requisite keys embedded into their firmware. Broadcasters publish their video so that it will respond to either type of DRM keys (embedded or internet). Your comments simply do not apply to the majority of OTA viewers who choose to view 3.0. For the tiny group of ...

Ha ha, too funny all the weird dancing we have to do to communicate in this quaint forum. I think I found the product you are referring to. They don't mention DRM either? Entirely possible that the A3SA part of ...

Re: Encryption

It looks like it! Frustrating that SD would rather censor messages then offer an honest reply on the subject. It was originally intended to stop competitive products from appearing in search results but now they seem to be blocking even obscure abbreviations.

Re: Encryption

I have been keeping up with this thread for months and honestly don't care about the delays as much as the censorship. Imagine if you posted a message on a Google forum about how the Pixel phone is better than the iPhone and then the word changes to i&hon# or ******, even though you were not ...

Re: Encryption

Just saw this on the news today and raced here to see if anyone posted about it yet. This all but confirms that encryption support is coming. I just hope it can be rolled out with a firmware update and not new hardware.

Re: Encryption

To me surprise, someone from the engineering department at my local ATSC 3.0 encrypted station responded. They basically said it's the industry standard, contact your device manufacturer for not fully supporting the standard.

Just got this device, it appears that SD has been trying for years to get this device approved for DRM but has not been able to do so? It appears I am too late submitting my comments on to the FCC docket, it does not appear in the list, and the most recent comment was two days ago so it must ...
