Re: Radio Stations

I found a clear example of an FM station translated onto an ATSC 1 broadcast: https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php? ... lsign=WSIU

WSIU-TV (RF28) 8.5 is a simulcast WSIU-FM 91.9 MHz.

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

5000 + physical channel number (.) program number is a reasonable approach for US ClearQAM. Will review further. GREAT NEWS! Moving to a deterministic GuideNumber model instead of today's random model solves many problems I face except for guide data. A HUGE WIN :!: If you'd consider having the OTA...

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

allow turning by rf channel even when a program isn't found in a scan like chNNNNNNNNN but more human friendly I keep digging here... maybe an HDHR already does some of this (not most) at least for PAN-AM ATSC... https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=378363#p377381 please use "ch...

Hold up. Is ch25 the same thing as ch53725000?

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

best to tune by virtual channel number. I'd love to but HDHR virtual channel numbers would need to be stable even when no PSIP data is present. My primary community CATV network does not include any PSIP data and I don't have GuideNumbers for the ClearQAM channels. I can not use the official apps, ...

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

Actually with CableCARD there is another step... the HDHomeRun does a reverse lookup of the frequency+program-number in the CableCARD channel data so it can ask the CableCARD to authorize the channel. WOW! That's a unique chain of events that I'm VERY IMPRESSED that SD accounted for. http://172.16....

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

The TransportStreamID is just something set by your cable provider's engineers and can change without notice like if they do something like install a new encoder. I'm a bit embarrassed. LIGHT BULBS!! kyl416, thank's for the detail. It didn't "click" until just now that the TransportStream...

Re: Radio Stations

Without more details, the answer is a simple: no . With more details, the answer is a very likely: no . HDHR devices do not tune traditionally audio mediums such as FM analog radio, FM+NRSC‑5 (HD RADIO), CAM‑D, DAB, or similar services. An HDHR will tune AC3 audio-only (and similar) programs inside ...

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

The different channels in the TS stream are referenced by program number, so you can tune a channel by frequency+program-number. KILLER! I think this is the piece of information that I was looking for. Now that I've overstayed my welcome... I hope this group has a little more patience for silly que...

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

TransportSteamID [ sic ] isn't something used to tune to channels. What a great team of experts here. I'm guessing that this is a long winded conversation to come back to ProgramNumber . Where ProgramNumber is the unique PAT/PMT values that maps the GuideNumber (PSIP), PAT, and group of streams (PM...

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

I've been very very wrong in my guesses above about what the TransportStreamID is. is the TransportStreamID the primary key of from the MPEG Program Map Table? GuideNumber 5, via CVCT or CableCard, maps to RF-9 + MPEG PMT-30814 ... GuideNumber 43.2, via CVCT, maps to RF-42 + MPEG PMT-42 If there are...

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

nickk wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 4:39 pm The TSID is not used at all for US cable TV. It is often simply set to 0x0001 for every channel.
If there are 4 programs on the same QAM, how are they demodulated (or at least how are the video PIDs and audio PIDs paired), if the TSID = 0x0001 for all channels?

Re: ProgramNumber vs. TransportStreamID

Great detail. Thank you. Understood regarding MPEG PIDs. Understood that TransportStreamID is not official. As presented by the HDHR, is the TransportStreamID the primary key of from the MPEG Program Map Table? I'm trying to understand if TransportStreamID is extracted from the MPEG side of things o...
