Re: ATSC 3.0: Portland - Jan 2021

Thanks for the heads up!!! I just took a look and you are right. They all seem to look better (especially KOIN and KRCW). I am however getting many glitches and freezing while watching KOIN/KRCW using VLC. I often see: [00007fd524023120] main decoder error: buffer deadlock prevented [00007fd5240011...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Portland - Jan 2021

Just a quick note for those following here: Nextstar was able to make some changes to the PLP structure so they are now running two PLPs. PLP 0 is now "robust" and only has KATU on it (around 2 Mbps) while PLP 1 is "fixed" with both KOIN and KRCW (around 20 Mbps total). A "fixed" PLP typically has a...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Portland - Jan 2021

Since the Portland market is in an ATSC 3.0 "lighthouse" mode, there isn't the bandwidth available to any single station to broadcast 4K video. Those improvements will start showing up once we're able to each have our own ATSC 3.0 transmitters (and the ATSC 1.0 ones are discontinued).

Re: AC-4 Audio?

I'd suggest not buying the Roku Ultra 2020. I just got it today under the impression that it does support AC-4, but it doesn't work and I'm going to return the device immediately. I can confirm that the Roku Ultra 2020 does indeed support AC-4. Silicondust needs to update their Roku app to update t...
