Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

Glad your eyes sees the same improved picture quality on ATSC 3.0 that my eyes do! I use HDHomeRun config, and play back the signal back through VLC. That yields the codec and some other data beyond my understanding! :D The picture is all screwed up with no audio, and drops frames all over the place...

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

It may be the placebo effect, but to my eyes the video from WTTK's (RF15) ATSC 3.0 signals looks just a tad sharper than the same shows transmitted on ATSC 1.0. Would be interested what other folks see (or think they see) in a head-to-head comparison. And, it's four signals crammed into one frequenc...

Re: HDHomeRun Flex 4K poor reception - mitch10102000

MY HDHomeRun Flex 4K offers better performance than any previous HDHomeRun tuner or any television set I own. They ARE very sensitive to a signal that is too strong for their liking, but when property set up, they are absolutely amazing. Do a great job on ATSC 3.0, although not many devices can hand...

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

A mind is a terrible thing to lose. I own one of those tuners!
I think (maybe I'm hoping) it had a different name when I bought it.
Channels looks very interesting.
THANKS for helping an old man!

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

Well, somebody has to ask a foolish question. Might as well be me. What is a Flex tuner, and what is Channels. So many options I haven't even heard of.
And, did you get sound on them? If so, you're very fortunate.

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

Here's what will work (including audio from both speakers). Windows 10 and the HDHomeRun app. Firestick 4K. That's all I've found that works perfectly. Emby not so good, Roku horrible. Your mileage may vary. I live in Bloomington, and had some trouble with a LPTF channel 15 in Martinsville, but it's...

Re: TLC - ROKU TV app

I have no luck whatsoever using the HDHome Run app with any Roku in my house. Looks very dated. NO sound on Pansonic, Samsung, or Seiki televisions. Not sure it's SiliconDust's problem, based on what I've read in this forum. Roku may be the culprit. Just bought a Firestick 4K for $40 at BestBuy, and...

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

The plot THICKENS. Rick Poling, the engineer at WTTK and a few other Indy stations, was nice enough to look into my situation, and smart enough to bring up the possibility that radio station WREP, a low power station (200 watts I think) located at Martinsville High School might be an issue. WREP is ...

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

PROBLEM SOLVED - Or at least I've made a diagnosis as to why my antenna performed so poorly on ATSC 3.0 WTTK. When I went out to hook up the antenna directly to my Silicon Dust 4K receiver to see if the problem was added somewhere in my system, I just happened to notice that when I raised my antenna...

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

ATSC 3.0 RF 15 is coming in well this morning. WRTV (one of the four HDTV feeds) is HEVC @ anywhere from 3 to 6.9 bitrate.
Picture is really good, but Emby reports all sorts of dropped frames. My old eyes can't see anything wrong.
Sure wish WTTK could up the power just a LITTLE.

Re: ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

I'm not on the ragged edge any longer. I'm apparently in the middle of nowhere, at least my tuner thinks I am! When I could actually receive a signal, HDHomeRun Config gui reported the signal was QAM 256K. Sure wish it got out better. The pictures looked really good for the few hours I got it. All f...

ATSC 3.0 WTTK (RF15) Indianapolis, IN

WTTK - CBS (RF 15) officially switched over to ATSC 3.0 Tuesday, August 10 2021, at around noon. That was the day scheduled for the transition. The channels transmitted include 5001 - 159.1 WXIN, 5002 - 129.1 WTTK, 5003 - 106.1 WRTV, and 5004 - 113.1 WTHR. For some odd reason, when WTTK was ATSC 1.0...

Re: Roku interface overhaul?

I can report that my older model Panasonic TVs either can not receive or can not do anything with audio from the Roku HD App. Dead silence. That is true even with a new Ultra Roku. Not mad or trying to assess blame, just disappointed. Anything Silicon Dust can do to make things work would be appreci...
