Re: Encryption
Nexgen Certified TV's have the requisite keys embedded into their firmware. Broadcasters publish their video so that it will respond to either type of DRM keys (embedded or internet). Your comments simply do not apply to the majority of OTA viewers who choose to view 3.0. For the tiny group of ...

Re: Encryption
SD would hopefully mention the slew of devices that support reasonable streaming encryption all the way to the end device, but isn’t Widevine, that should be permitted by the A3SA for transport and is currently in use for streaming.
I don't understand this. Can you clarify for me? Are you saying ...

Re: Encryption
I posted this an hour ago on AVS forum. Hope I don't get in trouble with them.......

Re: Encryption
Mediaproxy appears to have certs for monitoring, diagnostics, etc, for station engineers and such. It's not something that home users/customers can use.
Thanks for the answer.
That echoes what I heard on the AVS forum. Hopefully you guys can figure out a way to break DRM on an affordable add-on ...

Re: Encryption
I have a related question or maybe not.
Why can't SD enable the HD Homerun to view DRM channels but suppress any recording for DRM channels until there is a solution to the DRM issue? At least owners of the homerun could view the ATSC 3.0 channels with DRM enabled. I know this is not the ultimate ...

Re: Encryption
But, back to the larger point. Won't caring broadcasters simply turn off DRM during an emergency? No need for internet then.
The app doesn't work at all without internet, DRM or not. Some of the core components are apparently cloud reliant.
I am lost, as usual. What "app" are you talking ...

Re: Encryption
To my eyes, the ATSC 3.0 version, while NOT 4K, is a better picture than the 1.0 version.
Probably many variables are involved, but in the Indianapolis market, that appears to be the case.

Stilll applies. I own a pair of 4K Silicon Dust products, and I'm not overly anxious.NatHillIV wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2024 6:29 am I'm sure Nick will respond when he has time to digest the information he has received. The switch-over is a LONG ways off.

Re: Encryption - 16-142' in the 'Proceeding(s) box
Proceeding 16-142 is a HOT topic on the FCC Filing page. It has 4,102 responses . No other topic has above 2,000 responses, and only 5 (including 16-142) have over 1,000. The responses I've read are almost exclusively opposing DRM, and all are very well written.

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified
I can testify that my HDHR5-4K can successfully record an ATSC 3.0 broadcast. Through the $20 WalMart Onn "Google TV box" no less! :D
Now if somebody from the broadcast industry will PLEASE work with SiliconDust on DRM, I can quit being so mean to the broadcasters in the AVS ATSC 3.0 forum.
