Re: HDFX-4K turns flakey

I'm about 99% sure you have hit the nail on the proverbial head.
The tuner does NOT currently have the right power source. I would note, as a VERY weak form of defense that the tuner itself says it requires a 12V 1amp power supply. Best excuse I can come up with on short notice! :D

I just ordered ...

My bad. Sorry!

Thanks for the reply. I'm almost certain the device is faulty. It just keeps doing almost exactly the same sequence of events. Starts out just ...

Re: HDFX-4K turns flakey (again)

Well, it flaked out again . Worked for about an hour, then started acting weird. Then it finally quit and started all the weird errors again. I've done some checking online, and I am guessing it's all related to heat. I think I will try a few things I have read about. Put it on its side, provide a ...

Re: HDFX-4K turns flakey

I'm afraid it's a goner. MAKE THAT WAS AFRAID!
Last night, it started by not receiving VHF channels. IT worked on UHF for a while. Now in HDHomeRun or HDCONFIG it can't find a single channel. I tried your suggestions, but I can'tbegin to complete them.
I certainly appreciate your offer, but it's ...

Re: Unable to play channel: No Video Data

I am NOT an expert here by any means, so I would wait for an informed answer from somebody who actually knows what they are talking about. :D
I SUSPECT the channels you can not watch are DRM "protected" channels, which are a giant pain in the butt for Silicon Dust products. DRM "protection ...

Keep up the good fight Nick. I have a 4K tuner of yours that is getting ready to go to work on ALL ATSC 3.0 stations. :D

Re: Encryption

It seems to me that SiliconDust, through their filing, has proven beyond any doubt that ATSC 3.0 proponents have made absolutely absurd and disingenuous (to be kind) arguments in order to justify DRM.

In my eyes, Nick offered some very encouraging news regarding DRM I obtained while watching a Lon Seidman's youtube post.

Re: Encryption

I think this is HUGE. I would love for some SiliconDust folks to respond to what happened yesterday,

from the meeting............

Re: Encryption

I personally think AntennaManPA did a much better job. Lon might have given the impression that any old TV would easily work with an ATSC 3.0 signal.
But I personally thank both of them for their tireless efforts. I hope the FCC folks actually paid some attention. Will be interesting to see ...
