I have the new UI on my Android TV...version 20190430 and it still wont delete. so many moving parts.. could be you don't have the version of the new UI you need... the 20190430 just refers to the app build, not the UI build.. and you might need to force it to update. I've seen the freezing as well.... it's pretty rare for me though but still an issue.
