I think I found a solution to bypass my parents old Samsung TV audio. Thought I'd post it here in case it helps. An HDMI Audio Extractor was suggested earlier, but it wouldn't work for my setup, since the optical port of the soundbar is being used for other devices. I stumbled upon this AE on amazon...

OTA uses Dolby Digital (or AC3) audio format. TVs with antenna input are required to decode this audio but at the same time, most of them, especially the older ones don't offer the same capability for HDMI inputs. There's not much we can do about the audio. HDHomeRun units send the original broadcast audio, unmodified, to the client. Roku clients (aside from the ones built into TVs) don't decode the two broadcast format options for audio, so it's up to the TV hardware or external audio hardware to do it. Hel...

The TV probably won't pass the proper signal through, but you can get an adapter. HDMI from the Roku to an "audio extractor", then HDMI from the AE to the TV, and optical from the AE to the sound bar. They normally run around $20 from the normal places (Amazon, eBay, etc). Having a little trouble setting this up on my parents' Roku 3. Video works, but no audio. They have an older Samsung TV made before the days of Dolby Digital (It has TruSurround).
