Re: Best remote control for HDHomeRun App & XBOX One

PDP Talon works very well. Media buttons work as well as the arrows, select and back. There are buttons to bring up the OSD and the app menu. The channel up and down works as does the volume buttons if you have the Xbox ir blaster setup. What doesn’t work is the Record button and the numbers, the n...

Re: Steelers vs. Bengals - Multiple Recordings

In my opinion the way SD handles this is the more correct way as it's best to err on the side of recording than not to record. The only thing I would look at changing about it would be to not mark non-live sporting events as a FirstAiring (which would cover the showing at 3am on NFL network) Of cou...

Re: Steelers vs. Bengals - Multiple Recordings

But the purpose of FirstAiring is to override that. For instance shortly after the dvr came out, Mr. Robot showed a repeat as there was some shooting or other event. The next week marked the show as a first airing so even though one "previously" recorded that episode it then recorded the correct ep...

Re: Steelers vs. Bengals - Multiple Recordings

FirstAiring overrides all that logic as you can't "possibly" have it yet. Usually this allows the engine to perform better than wmc when an episode gets delayed a week because of some event. With wmc with such change, the guide usually would be behind a couple of weeks then after it got back on sch...

Inside the NFL - Duplicate Recordings

"Inside The NFL" recorded three times this week on three different channels. It has done this other weeks too, but I didn't get around to reporting it:

Steelers vs. Bengals - Multiple Recordings

I recorded the Steelers/Bengals game.... it ran live on both ESPN and our local ABC affiliate and thus used two tuners as it was recorded on both. It also ran later overnight as a repeat on the NFL Network. It recorded the game all three times. Is this a known issue that's being looked into? Not onl...

Re: Best front-end for "set top box" experience?

No the only device mentioned that can be both front and back end is the Shield. Yes, you can use the Shield as the back end. I did that for 3 months. It works reasonably well, but the performance is not as good a dedicated PC. Case in point, when running the Shield as my DVR recording engine, I wou...

Re: Best front-end for "set top box" experience?

I would say it actually provides a better user experience.

Manipulating a browser with a remote control is a better experience?

LOL!

Re: Best front-end for "set top box" experience?

At this point, the user experience on an Xbox One or Android TV is better than on an HTPC, IMO.

And there is no HBO app for use on a HTPC so that's a deal breaker for many people.

Re: Set the number of recordings to keep for each show task

This is excatly why nobody is writing their own scrips 😆 Yep. I've done searches for scripts online for HDHR and there is very little to be found. Nobody wants to do this, because we shouldn't have to! We're almost into 2018 and I'm shocked at how little movement there has been this year with this ...

Re: Set the number of recordings to keep for each show task

What I like about this system is how "easy" it is to grab a json, extract what you need, and send a request. To me the "only" thing missing (besides drm recording) is the same such functionality in the player so i could use such to "play to" My mechanic thinks it's easy to replace an alternator but...
