Re: Sony TV No Devices Connected via WiFi

Make sure the WiFi and wired networks are on the same subnet, as many routers partition their wireless networks now.

Re: Remote with numbers issue with HDHomerun for Android

The problem with CEC is that many TVs don't pass the number keys via CEC.

Re: Buying the DVR questions

They are MPEG Transport Streams (usually .ts, but I believe SD's DVR gives them .mpg extensions).

The codec is whatever the stream was originally sent in, usually MPEG-2 or MPEG-4.

Re: HDHomeRun Duo & Quatro: Internal Preamps?

Was that added to just the latest generation, or have SD's tuners always had a preamp of some sort?

Re: Adding File to DVR Recordings

The files also have the metadata embedded in the beginning of the file itself.

However, while I believe you can replace the files that have been recorded (such as a remuxed recording with the commercials removed), I don't think that the software supports adding arbitrary files.

Re: App will not work without internet connection!

What software would you recommend I use? For completely offline operation, Tvheadend. It can even make use of the EIT guide information that is embedded in the broadcast instead of relying upon a third-party guide provider. Most any other software is going to need some occasional internet access fo...

Re: App will not work without internet connection!

The hardware does not require an internet connection.

SiliconDust's software, on the other hand, does require an internet connection.

There are other software packages that you can use to access the hardware that are not from SiliconDust.

Re: Australia Cam Cards

If a "Cam Card" is a controlled access card, then no, SiliconDust does not support them. The only "cards" that SD tuners support are CableCARDs used by US cable systems. The only external devices that SD tuners support are tuning adapters/resolves required by some US cable systems. Both are only sup...

Re: Does the HDHR Dual hardware require internet access

Once the hardware setup is completed, does the hardware require internet access to function? Also of note, presently SD's software requires internet access to function. If operation offline is a concern, you'd best use different software. Also, most other other software can tune using frequency/PID...

Re: Record HD instead of SD How to

I understand your situation, and know exactly what you mean. Some of shows I want to watch air first on the Extra, Plus, or however they want to label the secondary SD channels; but I don't mind waiting up to a week for the program to air on the HD channel. Unfortunately, SD's DVR software does not ...

Re: HD homerun prime has MSNBH not MSNBC

This is not an error, just a misconfiguration from your provider. Not so much a misconfiguration, just an internal (only) definition in the mapping. It is not intended to be meaningful to anyone (other than the HE engineers). What is important is that your chosen software's guide is correct with na...

Re: HD homerun prime has MSNBH not MSNBC

Those names are coming from the cable company. It looks like "MSNBH" is a shortening of "MSNBC HD". Also, those call signs are often outdated, and reference the channels' previous name/incarnation, or what used to air on that channel. Case in point, my Charter/Spectrum lineup sent the "BIO" (Biograp...

Re: Just bought HDHR5 4DC (EU) TV Tuner Black *100mbit NIC?*

For reasons only known to SD, they have decided that 100Mbps is more than enough for their customers. (Anyone remember the 64k argument?) You'll also find a 100Mbps network connection on their (maybe) forthcoming 6 tuner Prime. And while no US cable provider is currently offering more than 6 4K cha...
