Re: Extend, Mac, no router, no NAS

If you are going to go his route, I suggest gettig a wireless access point that you can put into "client" or "bridge" mode. Then, connect that access point, your Mac, and the tuner to a switch. Also, remember that SD's DVR software is cloud-based, meaning all of the rules are stored on SD's servers,...

Re: HDHR Prime-cc for europe/DVB-C?

IIRC, the DVB-C product is the Expand. However, it is for unencrypted content only. The product flyer description states (albeit in the fine print): "Does not support CI or CI+ Access Control".

Re: Basic setup scenario and questions

Working fine now - using iPad to Screen Mirror until I can get the newer gen Apple TV box to allow apps to run.
You are aware that Silicon Dust does not have a HDHomeRun app for AppleTV/tvOS, right? Your only options are:
  • AirPlay screen mirroring/casting
  • Using a different app (such as Channels)

Re: Feature Request- Dual Live Buffers

You could set both to manually record. I'm curious about the alternate versions out there. Do they like intelligently skip once a commercial starts or something? No, you pause one when a commercial break starts, and switch to the other tuner. Then, when you have a commercial break on the second tun...

... or to easily load other tuners with the same lineup. There is already a 3rd party solution to provide that. Go look in the development support topic area. I frequently use your script to copy settings from one tuner to the other, so thank you for that. Now I just need to modify it to also accep...

Re: Why install balks at gtk+-2.0?

All installed per: https://www.silicondust.com/support/linux/ now what do I do? There is no link or other info on this page. (My 1st day with Connect) The GTK requirement is to build the hdhomerun_config_gui tool. It is merely an interface to view the status of your tuners. All of its functionality...

Re: Ignoring tuners?

Nateb : I think some power user functions would be nice. As for the tuner hardware, I'd like to see the ability to assign static IP's and be able to save/restore the lineup (favorites and X'd out stations) for each tuner or to easily load other tuners with the same lineup. … Static IP address assig...

Re: Install to Ubuntu should be simpler

Then I guess I don't understand the product. For example, I just installed the HDHomerun app on my Windows 10 PC. When I run that app, I can stream OTA programming from the HDHomerun device. Same with mac. I was expecting a similar app for Linux without the overhead of a media center like Kodi. The...

Re: Basic needs setup

There is no HDHomeRun app for tvOS. You can use AirPlay to mirror an iOS instance of the HDHomeRun app to the AppleTV. Channels has a native tvOS app. Their iOS app is no longer $25, but is now free. I'm not sure if the tvOS app has followed suit. However, it looks like Channels requires at least th...

Re: Any recourse? Back to stone age. Everything DRM now

Could you please clarify...SD support response seems to be tying release of DRM recording capabilities to be close (albeit before) to PRIME 6 launch. Although both releases are appealing, my main objective is to see DRM recording capabilities. As the PRIME 6 launch seems to be far off (not even sen...

Re: Splitting the coax between a Prime and a cable modem

I have a 2-way splitter feeding the modem and the Primes. From that 2-way splitter, the video side goes to a 4-way powered splitter that feeds the Primes. Then each line from the powered splitter goes into another 2-way splitter that feeds a Prime and its tuning adapter. Since rewiring my setup to t...

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!

I remember when this was the 4-tuner Prime....something like four years ago. I'll believe it when I see it. I expect an 8-tuner version "real soon now!" to be announced next year. There was the 4 tuner Expand, which was basically a Prime for DVB-C. The fourth tuner was because it didn't need the OO...

Re: Toshiba Fire TV 2018 cannot find Prime

I just installed a new 2018 Toshiba Fire TV. Installed HDHomeRun and when it is launched it claims it can not find my HDHomePrime tuner. The TV I just unplugged with a Fire TV 4k pendant had no problem finding my HDHomeRunPrime tuner. Seems it is something specific to this new TV with Fire TV embed...

Re: Subtitles

Closed captions in the video stream can be preserved with conversion, but it is often not the default. Ffmpeg has experimental support for extracting closed caption data and exporting it as a subrip-format file (SRT). Gstreamer also has experimental support for this. Both CCExtractor and ComSkip pa...
