Re: NAS Selection

So I am planning on using HDHomeRun for Recordings including DRM support. I thought that was all worked out and working now. What exactly does DRM keep you from recording. I can’t believe that only Microsoft was able to do that. Maybe I should wait a little. Right now I am still using windows 7 wit...

Re: When the Prime 6 comes out, how many are you planning on getting

I'm in SoCal with Charter/Spectrum, and none of our HD channels are H.264. While most HD streams are usually about 8Mbps, I have seen them up to 15Mbps or so at times. While that's only 90Mbps, it's still quite a bit of bandwidth and could cause some issues, especially if you are streaming 6 HD spo...

Re: Please test support for Client Bridge with dd-wrt

If you're interested in broadcast relay, you can check out these two projects which relay broadcast packets across subnets. The UBNT repo is for Ubiquiti EdgeOS, and the VyOS one is for Vyatta routers; Ubiquiti's EdgeOS is a fork of Vyatta's VyOS, and both are Debian based. https://github.com/britan...

Re: 'Unable to find hdhomerun tuner on local network'

Is it on the same subnet? Or does your router separate wireless traffic? Check the IP addresses, and make sure they are all on the same subnet. (In general this means that the first 3 numbers of the IP address are the same, like 192.168.1.X.)

Re: set dvr recording definition

By default HDHomeRun DVR records in hd. Is there a way to change the default to record in sd so the files are not so large? If this has been answered just point me to the posting. Thanks. In the tuner's web UI, mark the SD version of the channel to be a favorite. Favorite channels are given priorit...

Re: Did I miss the New Firmware announcement ?

Though i can think of a few rare cases, no one would typically need such bin files for release versions as the device can update itself (except legacy that probably won't be getting any more updates) Two cases easily come to mind: Packaging – For instance, in Arch's AUR: hdhomerun-firmware-bin Bulk...

Re: Did I miss the New Firmware announcement ?

They still haven't fixed the download links on the Linux page yet. I had to guess at what the download URL should be to get the .bin files. It's the same every time. Silicon Dust wants to be in charge of your tuner and entire viewing experience/ecosystem; the problem with this is that it makes it w...

While they do list the latest release firmware on the Linux download page, it's quite unintuitive. They still haven't fixed the download links on the Linux page yet. Could also be an interference issue. Perhaps physically moving the tuner away from other equipment may help.

Re: Turn off auto discovery of new channels - dinki

If such bothers you, switch software that does not require such scans. I'm unsure if Plex and Emby rely upon the tuner's lineup for channels, or if they manage their own lineups; Channels DVR relies upon the tuner's lineup. Most every other DVR software however (ie, Tvheadend, MythTV, NextPVR, etc....

Re: Is DRM recording still tied to same approval of HDR-6?

They have stated many times that the 2 are NOT tied together and are independent of each other. True. But they've also repeatedly stated that DRM recording will debut with the Prime 6. So while they aren't inherently tied together, in practice they are. (Unless SD wishes to finally announce that th...

Re: Turn off auto discovery of new channels - rpcameron

There was a change in the PRIME firmware to improve the handling of disabled channels that disappear and reappear. Is that the only modification, to fix that bug? What about any way to disable background scans, or at least increase timeouts when scanning (especially with TAs). It's incredibly frust...
