Re: Tuner confusion

So just to confirm, if I choose a 4-hour program to test with for 3 minutes, and then I stop recording (using the SD official Android app or the djp952 unofficial Kodi PVR add-on), while the front ends show no recordings, the .mpg files continue to be written to my NAS? I'm forced to lock up the tu...

Does SD use Schedules Direct? That's what I use with WMC. If they do, why doesn't SD provide the full 3 week schedule?
No, they don't use Schedules Direct; both SiliconDust and Schedules Direct get their guide data from the same upstream provider: Gracenote.

Re: Content Based Dynamic Padding

If Schedules Direct can provide information about in progress sporting events, such as whether they're still ongoing, or what the current score is, I don't see why SiliconDust cannot access this same information. Both Schedules Direct and SiliconDust are receiving their data from Gracenote. Also, it...

Re: When will DRM recording be available???

IIRC, the H.264/DRM issue is an Intel driver issue, not WMC related.

Re: Servio and Scribe

If I'm reading these various posts correctly, if I already have a few HDHR Extend tuners installed on my network, I can just get a Servio and not need the Scribe? I dont need any more tuners. How many HDHR Extend's can a Servio or Scribe handle at one time? Correct. The Servio is just a network att...

while I don't have Verizon Fios and I don't get any 4K channels, is there a path to 4K on Windows 7 (yeap Windows 7!) :-)
I believe it depends on the codec. If WMC can handle HEVC/H.265 and whatever the audio is transmitted as, then in theory there shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Turn off auto discovery of new channels - rpcameron

Mirroring the comments from Billi23, the latest stable firmware is not preserving disabled channels if they are "re-discovered" after being removed because of a timeout when trying to tune them during a background scan. I just checked some of my "newly added" channels on one of my tuners, and they a...

Re: HDHR PRIME background scans

The reason they "disappear" seems to be because the background scan has a much shorter timeout when trying to tune/lock a channel; this is especially noticeable on SDV channels. And yes, please stop removing subscribed channels that cannot be tuned. Or allow us to disable the scans. Or modify the ti...

Re: HDHR PRIME background scans

It's in the firmware, and there is no internet/online component to the background scans (as I understand it, but would love to be proven wrong), so blocking traffic won't help either.

Re: Can you record from a channel you're subscribed to in your cable lineup, but your Prime shows it an unsubscribed?

Tvheadend and MythTV will allow you to add any channel regardless of whether the tuner says it is subscribed or not. (This may have changed with MythTV as I understand there have been some changes since I last used it; with Tvheadend every channel must be manually entered or added through a user cre...

Re: 4k and Roku support

What 4K content can you receive on a Prime? It was already mentioned in the thread, but on FiOS some Fox sports channels occasionally have a 4K broadcast. Other cable companies may likewise offer 4K broadcasts, but it is up to them how they choose to do so. (I imagine they'd use H.265/HEVC since th...

Re: 4k and Roku support

Verizon Fios has added two 4K channels to carry Fox 4K broadcasts, including the Women's World Cup matches starting on Friday. Those should be available to be recorded, at least based on the first one having worked for the initial NASCAR broadcast last month. How will that work with the Service or ...

Re: 4k and Roku support

Well, technically there is nothing wrong with the statement. I don't know of any 4K OTA broadcasts, but if it's broadcast, then it can be recorded. With regard to the Roku support, perhaps the device advertises itself over DLNA and Roku can play the content in that manner. While misleading, there is...

I have spectrum TV with cable card and a prime tuner. Re: View for Linux?

Especially since this is a paid, for profit, software and devices. That could be debated. The software is free. Anyone can download and install it. What you 'pay for' is the DVR service and TV Guide data. Anyone can downloaded it, but not anyone can use it. ...you have to pay for the SD hard...
