Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
1.0.4 is the package version - it is not the record engine version. That is downloaded on start.
A message on unable to install is probably missing a setting in the app center to allow 3rd party or unsigned packages. You will need to enable that option.
QNAP is constantly trying to lock down ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
I upgrade the QNAP software on my NAS and seems to be unstable now. Recordings stopped and record engine seemed like it was working in NAS. Noticed that if stopped and restarted engine the DVR manager would see record engine again. I seem to be stuck on version 1.0.4. From messages on the forum ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Can you check /etc/ passwd again?
[EDIT/UPDATE right at the start - this post ends with my DVR record engine working again. I just wanted to cut to the chase right at the start now that I'm back in business! You and anyone else can read the steps I took to carry it over the finish line only ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
That is very odd
BusyBox as of today is current v1.32
Mine is showing v1.24 (5yrs old) from last QTS update on my TS-651.
v1.01 is over 15yrs old!
Build date kinda matches last QTS update.. but still..
Which QNAP do you have?
The parameters are the same though.. so not sure whats going on ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Apologies - I missed your reply somehow..
it's really odd that the user didn't get added when you installed.
Script executes
/bin/adduser -HD hdhomerundvr
can u run from ssh and check /etc/ passwd again?
the 'HDHomeRunDVR is disabled' must have been something QNAP did
You have to manually ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
So I got support from QNAP, and I think I'm in a much better spot than I was. I no longer have all those extra "admin" accounts, there's only one "administrator," and I'm running the latest and greatest firmware firmware. The only problem is, I still don't see an "hdhomerundvr" user. Now I only see ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Something is very wrong here - you may want to open a ticket with Qnap
Roger That.
But first - am going to assume we've installed the QPKG, stopped the engine, modified the recordpath to /share/Recordings/HDHomeRunDVR and saved
you can also delete the HDHomeRunDVR share if you wish.
Done ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
What the ?!?!
Are you logged in as Tim or admin?
If admin, that's not right. Something very wrong going on.
If Tim.. u need to do all this as an administrator user, not as normal user.
Per the image linked here, I *believe* I am logged in as "admin" (see the red circle I made in Microsoft ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Group won't work.
You need to allow the user.. If for some reason its not showing there look via the User/Edit Shared Folder Permission screen
Control Panel-> Privilege -> Users and the second last icon on the right.

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
We're close.
Did you add the user hdhomerundvr to your other share once you reinstalled?
The user is removed and access to your share when you removed 1.0.2, so u need to add again. Then stop/start once more.
Tip: remove all log files in the recordpath folder while the engine is stopped and once ...

Confirmed fixed.
yay :D
Now just need to hear from @psuKinger, @jumbleknot and @ppilot to hopefully confirm all good on their ends.
I think we resolved @punch-card early on..
Only outstanding is @JWylds who has yet to respond to my Q, but I suspect is just the unchecking 'Do not allow Web ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
Ahh.. I understand the confusion.
You can open the UI before you stop if your using the app center to open it.. just stop before you edit the recordpath.
You can also reach the UI via browsing to http://nas_ip_address/HDHomeRunDVR directly
If I open the app within QTS, and then go back to App ...

Re: QNAP QPKG for DVR Record Engine
an alternative method if not comfortable with SSH seems a little extreme but is not so bad as you might think.
Completely remove the HDHomeRunDVR package by 'removing' from AppCenter in QTS
Don't worry - your recordings are all safe.. nothing important is deleted.
Now install the 1.0.2 QPKG ...
