Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

As I have said previously this is about a person who channel surfs vs. a person who program surfs. You guys obviously look down on or just don't give a chuckle about channel surfers. The Live TV view is channel centric for channel surfing. The Discover view is for discovering new programs you maybe...

Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

New feature for channel centric usage... In Discover you can now search for a channel number to see shows on that channel. You can optionally add additional search terms after the channel number. For example: Searching for "6.1" will return all shows on that channel in the next two weeks. Searching...

Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

Serious question; if we're not to discuss a grid guide here, where should we? Sounds like you don't want any discussion about a grid guide. At the moment, no where. But that doesn't mean no where forever. The reason we're having this particular discussion now is because Discover Now, as it is in th...

Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

This conversation has got me wondering about a new thing. I'm wondering how all of you guys use your DVR system in the first place. I ask, because it's honestly pretty rare for me to just randomly search for shows. Unless I'm testing something, I tend to set up all my recordings and spend almost al...

Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

There is absolutely nothing you can do to 'fix' Discovery to convince me it is even remotely useful. I only use the search feature to find a show to record. And to be fair, I dislike Netflix , Amazon Prime or any other streaming service I have seen. I find them all very frustrating to use. Also, as...

Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

Nate, I like the way discover is now. It works for me to find shows to record, ala Netflix. But one example for me would be for movies. If I record a movie it's to archive it. I want to record from a non-commercial interrupting or editing channel. Hm, interesting. That is a pretty valid reason to w...

Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

Every time I use Netflix UI I get pissed. Let's hope that SD is not trying to recreate this terrible UI for their DVR. Why? Because to decide what to watch I have to click through to the details every single time. A nice grid view and I could scroll around without playing whack-a-mole. I can't stan...

Re: Feedback on new Discover Now

Gridview is dumb, and should head out to pasture. It's simply the way it's always been and what people know and change is scary. ;) Maybe that is what SiliconDust thinks. I certainly hope not, if they want me as a customer. I want at least the functionality that I have now in WMC, and if they can p...

Better than it was, but still not as good as a grid guide.

Re: Grid Guide

I see lots of options,...Live Channels app is FREE and has 14 day linear guide. Last December I purchased a lifetime Plex Pass for $79, that also has a linear guide. My girlfriend prefers Channels app for her Apple TV, that also features a linear guide. Those other options don't handle DRM channels...

Re: Grid Guide

Good to hear. I do appreciate the work SD has done, it's just frustrating to hear that they wouldn't even consider a grid. That was the whole reason I was a kickstarter supporter; WMC replacement. I completely agree!!! Disappointed with SD's decision not to provide a grid option. People prefer choi...

Re: Grid Guide

FWIW, MS is not removing guide data. They are removing metadata lookup for movies and music.

Re: Windows Media Center Guide Data

Yep, in the same boat, and for me personally, the HDHR UI is unusable. My style of watching tv is grid guide based, so I'll either go with EPG123, or another solution that uses other hardware.

Re: Some of us are actually happy

Happy with the hardware, been using it with WMC for about 9 years now. Not happy with the software, I need a grid guide. I'm lucky enough that my WMC TV listings have been working, but M$ just announced that they will be cutting that service and when they do I'll have to start paying for the alterna...

Re: Grid Guide

For 3 years I've been waiting for a WMC replacement. Your software is useless to me without a grid guide. I'll pay for an alternative guide service for WMC, or just drop your product all together. It's been a nice 9 year run though.
