Re: Why can't we turn Slice Guide off now on Sony Google TV

In the Live TV screen, if you press UP or DOWN button, it brings out the slice guide on the side. In the past that can be configured to bring up either grid guide or slice guide. I think that's what OP is complaining about: don't want to see slice guide ever.

Would like that as well. Prefer ...

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

First off, I like the Guide button. Live button is optional.

FYI --
As of 2025-10-01 with UI 20251001a, I get a blank guide when I click on the Guide button in
Windows 11, android smartphone app and android tv app. The guide area is blank with the
blue current time line showing.
All other menu ...

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

Not going to guide when you hit Back. Goes to wherever you were before entering Live.
That is the expected behavior.

Edit: AND Guide goes to a different channel than what you've clicked on.
If you came from Guide it should return you to Guide with focus on the last channel you tuned. If ...

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

There is no longer an option for slice guide vs. list guide in settings....
And live always goes to slice guide now.
Is this on purpose?
Would like to have been able to go the the list guide from the live tab,
as we had before.

This is by design. Press Back/ESC to go to the grid guide ...

New Firestick 4k Select

Supposedly launched today with new Vega operating system, based on Linux. Incompatible with Android.

Just curious if you plan to support Vega in the future.
Haven't noticed any mentions here.

Thanks!

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

That should already be there, I just needed to change it back after the latest UI update.

Looks like the option is there, but it is not working on either of my Android devices. I change the setting, close out of the app, go back in and I am brought right back to the guide.

Interesting. I ...

I think they did. (Hope it wasn't an accident).

I had to force a stop of the HD app and clear the cache. Then the splash screen went nicely away.

Worked on multiple Firesticks and android.

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

An FYI..
The menu top line showing over the guide screen...
GUIDE | RECORDED | DISCOVER | TASKS

Is covering the top of the highlighted description of the show and the image. (Firesticks)

That menu should go away and show up from that screen by pressing back once.

Thanks,

EDIT... After writing ...

The overlay will continue to provide the slice guide down the right hand side, and pressing Escape/Back from Live TV will get you the grid guide.
Sounds like a good idea. Thanks Again!

Now, after exiting via pressing home and the coming back later going back into the app...
There's "no guide information available.. .

Have to move up then hit back, which heights " Guide" then ok ...
