Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

I just hope this doesn't cause any further delays in the Prime 6, outside of what's required to get it certified by CableLabs(?). The Prime doesn't have a ATSC tuner at all so it shouldn't matter. I was referring more to needing to get an ATSC 3.0 Tuner out this year causing delays to getting the P...

Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

So, I just found this article on Cord Cutters News, but apparently Sinclair Broadcasting is planning to roll out ATSC 3.0 to 26 markets this year. There haven't been any announcements about which markets, nor exactly when, but there is a Federally Mandated 4 month notice period before a transition, ...

Re: 100 Base-TX high-speed network

Prime is cable only... nothing to do with atsc 3.0 (or any other version of atsc) You will need a different/unannounced tuner for atsc 3.0 I'm aware that the Prime is cable only. My question was if the cable companies receive ATSC 3.0 from the broadcasters and feed it directly through to their cust...

Re: 100 Base-TX high-speed network

Hi, The maximum bandwidth of a CableCARD is 200Mbps. For normal HD cable channels Everything is moving to h264 720p. MPEG2 720p typical-max is around 12Mbps. h264 720p typical-max is around 4.5Mbps. We have not seen UHD content on CableCARD. It is likely UHD content will be delivered via IP rather ...

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!

Thanks Nate! Is there any possibility if the software to allow DRM recording is not ready when everything else is, that Prime could be released without it so those of use without DRM issues can get access to it, Then when the DRM software end is ready, update the firmware and let the next wave of b...

Re: prime 6 vs prime 3?

Silicondust had an interview with Digital Media Zone, and one of the topics/articles to come out of that was where was the Prime 6? Here is the Article: https://www.thedigitalmediazone.com/2019/01/08/where-is-the-hdhomerun-prime-6/ Basically, to summarize, the two new products that were announced ea...

Re: 6 tuner prime soon !!!

I freely admit I'm speculating, so take this with a load of salt. Now, that being said, assuming they didn't have production ready by, say, late August/early September for Black Friday/the Christmas Season, they may have decided to hold off on announcing it now, when they either have no where near t...
