Re: Unofficial Kodi HDHomeRun DVR PVR Client

An endless buffer taking up most of the space on a dedicated hard drive or partition for recordings is one thing (provided that there's a way to automatically dump the buffer if space is needed for an upcoming recording), but if it's a shared drive, an endless buffer can end up doing a lot more harm...

Re: Getting extra channel numbers

Those might be coming from their RF 19 translator in Deltona that it picked up during an automated background scan.

Some stations add .10 to the subchannel numbering on translators so they don't cause a conflict for people who are in range of both signals.

Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD

(though I believe if one performs a scan and such channel isn't present it may drop such entirely thus re-enable later if picked up) The background scan will not remove channels. It still replaces channels when there's a virtual number conflict and the "new" channel has a higher resolution and/or s...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD

The Baltimore ATSC 3.0 signals come from WNUV's RF 25 signal: https://www.rabbitears.info/contour.php?appid=25076ff3797a6ed301797b4c67990216&site=1&map=Y 154.1 WNUV is on the more robust QAM 16 PLP, so it's easier to decode in weak reception areas. 145.1 WBFF is on the QAM 64 PLP, while the rest of ...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Washington, DC / Baltimore, MD

Everything except for WIAV are the Baltimore stations. If you're outside of the usual coverage area of the Baltimore stations and don't get them now, it was likely atmospheric boost pulling them in during an overnight autoscan. DC's own ATSC 3.0 service using WHUT's RF 32 signal is slated to go live...

Re: Who supports MadVR and DRM'ed CableCARD channels

DRM protected channels will have a DRM icon next to them after you do a scan on the lineup page . If Kodi can play them, they are not DRM protected. Only things that pass CableLabs certification can playback DRM protected CableCARD channels, since Kodi is open source it will never be certified. MadV...

Re: W7 WMC scanning channels

If you previously used Microsoft's guide data, it might still have the old pre-repack mappings saved in the database. Unfortunately Microsoft decided to cut off the data at the worst possible time, so when the data stopped being updated we were only halfway through the repack, and many of the VHF ch...

The MQD22LL/A lists Atmos in its specs, so it should be good for AC-4 audio.

Re: Chicago 106.1 JTVHD Broadcasting on RF 6

I'm hoping something with good programing starts up. You won't see any of that on the Franken FM's. If they didn't convert to digital by today, they would have had to go silent until they could do so since July 13th is the deadline for all analog LPTV to cease. This is just WRME-LP's way of keeping...

Re: ATSC 3.0 signal quality VS ATSC

WNLO-CD uses 45-1 as its virtual number (145.1 on the HDHomeRun 4K). WNLO-CD's RF 14 ATSC 3.0 signal is shared with WAVY (ABC), WTVZ (MyNet) and WVBT (Fox). The HSN's and QVC's you see on 14-x are W26EV-D, which is owned by HSN's parent company. Pre-repack they were W14DC-D, but since it's a LPTV si...

Re: ATSC 3.0 signal quality VS ATSC

Norfolk's ATSC 3.0 lighthouse is the 15 kW Class A WNLO-CD , so it's going to be weaker than their full power ATSC 1.0 counterparts that have 850-1000 kW signals. One of the rules is that the ATSC 1.0 simulcasts have to be on a signal that has at least 95% coverage area of the signal that converted,...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Phoenix - Jan 2021

That "punching up the power" message was referring to their move from a 39 kW signal on VHF 12 to a 1000 kW signal on UHF 18. No one is having the olympics 4K in OTA since there's not enough bandwidth to do 4K when the ATSC 3.0 lighthouses have to be shared between 3-6 HD stations for the next few y...

Re: ATSC 3.0 Channel Issues in Kalamazoo

RF 35 is the Class A WOLP-CD, and Kalamazoo is kind of in the fringes of that signal: https://www.rabbitears.info/contour.php?appid=25076ff3784d7e5e01785aeab3c507d7&site=1&map=Y The QAM 16 PLPs are easier to decode in fringe areas, but the tradeoff is its low bitrate, so most of the stations are in ...

Re: Recording and Playing back 3.0?

Windows Media Center will not work with ATSC 3.0 since it uses the HDHomeRun in BDA mode to physically tune to channels, and Media Center development was halted long before ATSC 3.0 was a thing. There's also the whole AC-4 audio issue and right now there are no DirectShow or Windows Media Foundation...
