Re: Encryption
I am old enough to remember when VCR's came out and there was freedom of the airwaves; none of the broadcasters complained about viewers skipping commercials... I take it you weren't paying attention to Sony Corp. of America v. Universal City Studios, Inc. where Sony (Betamax) only won by a 1 vote ...

Re: How is Signal Quality calculated?
The Signal Quality is how much of the actual signal could be decoded above the noise floor. The noise floor can be affected by anything from multipath interference by the signal bouncing off of any hills or buildings in your vicinity, another station on that RF number coming from another direction, ...

Re: Why does HDHR5-2US have port 554 open?
Using curl to access port 554 on my HDHomeRun does return a RTSP server response: < RTSP/1.0 200 OK < SERVER: HDHomeRun/1.0 < CSeq: 1 < Public: OPTIONS, DESCRIBE, SETUP, PLAY, TEARDOWN I haven't figured out the correct URL format, but I was able get ffmpeg/ffplay to retrieve a SDP response by using ...

Re: ATSC3 vs 8vsb Signal Quality
A signal quality that's bouncing around is usually a sign of multipath interference. You might have to adjust your antenna to find a sweet spot to aim for instead of directly at the tower.

Re: Encryption
The DC ATSC 3 stations seem to have ruined the reception of ABC 7.1 for me. Good thing 107.1 is still unencrypted! WHUT's UHF 33 signal switching to ATSC 3.0 has nothing to do with WJLA's VHF 7 signal beyond them picking up the ATSC 1.0 simulcasts, which wouldn't affect the transmitter output. WJLA...

Re: Encryption
so I have to assume that transmit power was reduced for some reason. Nothing changed with OKC's ATSC 1.0 channels, most of them are using the same signals that they've had since the DTV transition since they weren't assigned new RF numbers during the repack. The one station that changed tower sites...

Re: Feature Request: Manual Tuning
The other is a misconfiguration of W24EZ-D to the wrong virtual channel (24.1 when it should be 28.1) that is preventing my channel list from showing WEDH-1 24.1. You would think that problem would be temporary, but both channels have been notified (the offender 9 months ago, the offended 2 months ...

Re: Encryption
Their previous post mentioned Oklahoma City. In that market all of the participating signals come from the same general area, with only one or two blocks between the tower sites. KFOR (NBC) is on the same tower as the lighthouse KAUT and is the ATSC 1.0 host of 43.1 CW. Prior to the market's October...

Re: Channel 4.2 COZYTV guide for "Mom" is wrong
I've sent an E-Mail to COZYTV, getting ignored there too. Mom isn't part of Cozi's official network schedule , you need to contact KNBC . KNBC picked up some of the syndicated rights that KDOC/56 used to have prior to being sold to TCT, but don't have room to clear it on their main channel so they ...

Re: Help understanding Rogue ATSC 3.0 Channel?
most low-power stations carry fast versions of streaming channels, this one in particular is tennis 2 subchanneled as 113.10 Broadcast stations that have channels like OAN Plus, Newsmax 2, AWE Plus, Real America's Voice, etc are actually carrying the audio and video feeds on their signal, their FAS...

Re: Help understanding Rogue ATSC 3.0 Channel?
T2 is their free streaming channel that's carried by a bunch of FAST providers. It isn't the same Tennis Channel that people with cable and satellite get.

Re: TV Station Launches Multiple 4K Broadcasts OTA on ATSC 1.0
You would benefit from watching the entire video, or even the full 20-minute interview (https://youtu.be/oQdonemI5Ls?feature=shared). Many of your points are incorrect on the finer details (framerates used, TV compatibility in 2024, etc), but I'm not going to pick them apart. This wouldn't be the f...

Re: TV Station Launches Multiple 4K Broadcasts OTA on ATSC 1.0
That LPTV station in Eugene Oregon has been doing it since at least 2021. The only way they can do it is with 24 fps and/or slow moving content that can be compressed to less than 5 Mbps, which they can't do for actual network 4K sports broadcasts with a lot of rapid motion and camera panning. i.e. ...
