Re: No sound on 4K channels on iPad?

ATSC 3.0 uses AC-4 for audio, and they can only decode AC-4 on an iOS device if Apple licensed support for it from Dolby for that specific model. Check this list to see if "Dolby Atmos Playback" support is indicated for your specfic model and year: https://developer.dolby.com/platforms/app...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Greensboro, NC

For those who aren't already aware, Sinclair was hit by a ransomware attack last week, and since Sinclair owns WMYV and WXLV, the Greensboro stations are postponing their ATSC 3.0 launch until further notice.

Re: Recordings all end up garbled until HDHR hardware is restarted

Check the QoS or "fairness" settings. Some routers detect HDHomeRun's streams as giant file transfers and their default QoS settings might put that on the back burner in favor of smaller transfers that are more commonly associated with things like online gaming, VoIP and Skype/Zoom sessions.

They also can't use virtual 9 as their contour overlaps with KQED.

Re: Problem of a low-power ATSC 3.0 broadcaster

KEFM-LD should not be using virtual channel 6 at all as LPTV signals are secondary to all full power stations, so KVIE has the rights to virtual 6. You can complain to KVIE about it and they can get the ball rolling by filing an official complaint to the FCC, as on real NextGen TVs it has the potent...

Re: Fios 4k channels

FiOS recently changed how they schedule their 4K channels. For FiOS in DC, SiliconDust needs to use these stationIds from Gracenote:
1496 FIOS4K6 (120904)
1498 FIOS4K8 (117275)
1499 FIOS4K9 (117276)

Re: Schedules Direct - When is it activated?

You may not want to advertise that. Schedules Direct's TOS explicitly states that their data can only be used with free/open software. Even using their guide data with some middleware like epg123 to feed a commercial software application like WMC violates those terms. It doesn't violate their terms...

Re: Phoenix, a couple of channels missing data

It's going to be a while before that gets added, DigiTV neglected to send any schedules to the upstream data provider Gracenote, so they still don't even have a generic network entry to use as a base for the local station entries.

Re: Can’t view some cable channels Windows 10 and Android TV

I don’t know why the SD channels exist. My educated guess is for the analog output of the set top boxes. HD boxes can downconvert the HD feeds for the SD outputs. However, until the cable company replaces every cable box they've deployed since the early days of digital cable, and upgrades specializ...

Re: ATSC 3.0: Hartford/New Haven, CT

If there's any testing, it won't happen until after they make their NextGen filing with the FCC and only in the middle of the night to avoid disruption to WCCT's OTA and satellite viewers as any testing would involve switching WCCT's RF 33 signal to ATSC 3.0.

Re: Unable to View Newly Encrypted Channels on Optimum

Switched video lets them reclaim the bandwidth so they can offer faster internet speeds. They started doing this in the mid-00s with the now defunct VOOM HD channels, and later expanded it to the multiplex premiums, sports packages, international packages and now most of the SD feeds and some lesser...

Re: Unable to View Newly Encrypted Channels on Optimum

My brother is on the Hauppauge system too. If you have a cable card you should still be able to access their HD feeds in the 600s and 700s instead of their traditional numbers (5, 4, 7, 12, 61, etc), but many of the SD feeds and lesser watched HD channels now require a tuning adapter.

Re: Unable to View Newly Encrypted Channels on Optimum

Do you have a tuning adapter? In addition to encrypting channels they also moved some channels to switched video. Optimum also had a history of including additional stations in Clear QAM like the government access channels from neighboring towns and some additional locals that aren't available in al...

Re: Phoenix, a couple of channels missing data

You're probably going to have to make another change in about 2 weeks. One of those duplicate Grits will likely be replaced by Newsy when Scripps relaunches it as a diginet on October 1st.
