Can you please check the app version (different to the UI version)...

Open the App Store.
Tap the icon for your account so it brings up the Account popup.
Tap Apps in the Accounts popup
Tap HDHomeRun - it should indicate which version is installed.

If you tell curl to show full headers it should show the actual error returned by the server.

Make sure you add -H 'Accept-Encoding: gzip' to the curl command line. The server will reject the request if the client doesn't support gzip encoding.

Drive is not being detected. It is possible the enclosure doesn't support USB 2.0... you may need to try a different enclosure.

The diagnostics show using a 1TB drive that was confirmed for recordings. Then a 2TB drive was connected which detected fine but it wasn't blank so the HDHomeRun needs your permission to format it.

You are doing it right - have the FLEX initialize the new drive so you know it is the right version of XFS with the right mkfs options.
