Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

Question, what if the station lets the security certificate expire? It happens, especially with all the consolidation happening things get lost or ignored. Because it's certified, wouldn't the HDHomeRun be obligated to at least generate a nag screen?

Do channels that do not use DRM employ ...

Re: HDHomeRun 4K is Nextgen TV Certified

So then I guess if the HDHomerun Flex 4K/HD Homerun app doesn’t receive DRM capabilities from A3SA and high noon was to go into effect, all ATSC 3.0 stations, regardless of whether they use DRM encryption or not, would become unwatchable for us?

No. Channels that are not DRM encrypted will ...

Do other plays do this? I've never noticed it on macOS or Android TV.

Great! Can't wait for ATSC 4.0, the one built on open and royalty-free standards.

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

This will be a welcomed change!

May we also get the "Start in Recorded" option back as well?

That should already be there, I just needed to change it back after the latest UI update.

Looks like the option is there, but it is not working on either of my Android devices. I change the ...

Re: Encryption

Why even have that as a process separate from the FCC license? Why not have the FCC handle both, or at least issue a certificate using the existing FCC process/paperwork/fee/etc for getting a broadcast license? Are they going to be the only certificate authority? How are they calculating the fee ...

Re: Background channel scan: How to deal with tropo channels overwriting locals?

All my local (Austin) 17.x channels were overwritten by San Antonio 17.x channels again last night, so it looks like running manual scans on the regular does not impede the background scans.

Any SD folks want to chime in on page 2?

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

nickk wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 6:53 pm This is intentional - every Android remote should have a home button to exit the app.
So the app will only detect devices or download the UI files when it leaves memory on its own or is killed?

Same on RockTek G2 (SEI804) with vanilla Android TV. As of today, I can no longer exit the app at all with the back button. Please fix!

Re: Encryption

they basicly can... hevc came out in April 2013.
so figure in 2015 and newer tvs can handle hevc.

That is... very generous of you, but I think unrealistic. There are still recent ATSC 1.0 TVs that can't handle AVC (H.264) OTA channels. Here's one from 2021 (manual dated 12/17/21) that a poster ...

Re: Encryption

I've read much hand-wringing about DRM causing concern during emergency situations. But I cannot fathom the issue. If there is an emergency the broadcasters can always turn DRM off. Pure ATSC 3.0, no certificates, no internet required. Then they turn DRM back on after the emergency is over.

It ...
