Re: CBS 4K Super Bowl

I had Paramount Plus with no ads and they had the Super Bowl in HDR. I couldn't tell if it was also 4K but it looked like it. I was trying to figure out the same. Paramount's feed looked better overall than my local CBS channel which was a little bit of a disappointement IMO. What player were you u...

I just hope this was an emergency and not some idiot deciding to schedule such outage on a Sunday when it could have waited until Monday.
Hahaha, that would be sadistic on their part.....

Re: Super Bowl in 4K HDR

Will be interesting to see if today beats last years record for peak cloud AC4 transcode workload. Unlikely. Last year's SB was on Fox, which is non-DRM. So everybody could watch the game in 1080p (where available) using Flex-4K server tuner/DVR. And if watched through a client device that did not ...

Re: Servio

My understanding is the clock is supposed to start ticking when it first connects to SD to get DeviceAuth but they may have such for once a recording is scheduled. Someone from SD might be able to check but it's hard for a user to as there isn't an "account" (email address) associated wit...

Re: Servio

The scribe and servio come with a free year of dvr service but you don't really get an account as access is through that device (not the other devices... when you buy service any if the devices on your account may be used to access dvr features but keep in mind that it is easy to mess up such assoc...

Also, if you open the HDHomeRun app and go to Account Information it will tell you if the DVR account is active and the email address of the person who registered the account.
I will check that the next time I am over there......

Re: Servio

One last remark.

Tuning/tweaking the "ears" (VHF channel) on the rabbit ear antenna, would have been impossible without that "Hdhomerun Signal Meter" app running on my Android cellular phone.

Re: Servio

How is this possible, he has NOT subscribed to get the DVR function. You can schedule recordings without an active DVR account but nothing will record. The DVR subscription is authorized through the tuner. Since the tuner was purchased used it is possible the previous owner has a DVR subscription a...

Re: Servio

After I completed his setup, and showing how the DVR works, it got me wondering. I was only there for a short time to test, but he seemed to get a lot of days of guide data, I did not test fully to see how far out the guide goes. Also, I was able to schedule recordings. How is this possible, he has ...

Re: Servio

Just a final update on ditching cable TV for my nephew. As my first post, I was NOT able to receive the "Fox" channel, (2.1) using an older HDHomeRun Dual tuner. And thanks to @JDazell, I received the Scribe that I purchased from Ebay ($76 USD), so I tested that tuner to pickup the "F...

Re: HDHOMERUN FLEX 4K

That is a tough one, The Super Bowl is on CBS this year. Hope they don't do that to me between today and Sunday.

Edit: Got used to using the ATSC 3 version. Guess I will have to go back to the ATSC 1 version. Probably ain't no difference any way.

Re: Servio

Right now, I am using a 4 TB external hard drive connected to a mini PC as my primary DVR engine. As my backup, I have a two terabyte Servio. Of course, I also have a DVR server running on Plex, Emby and Tvheadend. I don't know of anyone, that would like to have a system like I have. However, the Sc...

Re: Servio

So, thanks to JDazell, I picked up a Scribe Duo, which according to the seller, never had a recording done on it, for $76 USD. That is exactly what will work for my nephew and at a great price. Just connect the rabbit ears, power, and Ethernet cable, and bingo, he cut the cord and saves over a hundr...

Re: Servio

That is what makes it a Flex is the usb port to attach a drive... you originally stated old tuner so I felt it was before the flex (i.e. connect, extend, ...) I guess I have been a sleep just like Mr. Rip Van Winkle. I never knew what the "Flex" was. That information must have been a very...

Re: Servio

@signcarver, are you saying that the flex 4K, flex quatro or flex duo support the DVR engine by attaching a hard drive?? So, all I have to do is attach a hard drive to one of these three devices then they become the DVR??? I did not know that.....
