Re: Hey, SD Where are we at with Shield ATV and DRM Support?

SD has shown great skill in designing and getting manufactured quality and reliable tuner devices and is demonstrating skills in software to produce DVR and viewing apps on a range of platforms. It does not cost a lot to get Android TV boxes manufactured in China. Perhaps it is time for SD to figure...

Re: HDHomeRun Connect - Jerky Video

Seriously, if you have 65% signal strength when you connect the tuner direct to your cable company's incoming cable at the Point of Entry with no splitters in the path then you cannot expect it to work! My signal strength is 100%, and it MUST be close to that. Now assuming you have intenet and TV fr...

Re: Setup Questions . . . . . .

Others will no doubt address whether an NAS helps, but if you want to shift the TV out of the room you will need an HDMI cable from it to the TV. If you don't have HDMI but have coax you could consider an HDMI-over-Coax kit or possibly HDMI-over-Cat5 as you have what would then be spare Cat5. Note t...

Re: Android Tv Box ... which to buy?

I've been unable to use the MiBox as an everyday TV driver due to the Silicondust product not yet working with DRM on Android, but for what it's worth even though it does not have ethernet I do use it for Netflix, Vudu, Fandango and other streaming services with excellent results with a 5GHz Wireles...

Re: 20170512beta1 WD My Cloud record engine will not Install

When I did it on mine to change password, install putty on your pc and run: In putty you will see "login as:" type "root" (without quotes) it will say "root@192.168.xxx.xxx's password:" type whatever the password is (Default Password is welc0me). Note it does not change/show passwords while you type...

Re: WARNING: TWC to Spectrum conversion won't support Cable Cards

I just changed my plan from a TWC to spectrum and I was able to keep my existing cable cards. Not sure why they would tell you that. Go into your local office instead. Yes always go to your local office when trying to do anything like that. The folks are always better, plus they actually understand...

Re: Protected channels on Windows 10 (DVD Player app not required)

Just to say thanks to Nick and the team for this progress - working perfectly on the first machine I've upgraded to Creators. This is an older machine I was using as htpc until two years ago, powered by an i5-680, and the app runs very smoothly on it on my DRM channels. Also relieved that it works w...

Re: FEATURE: Please add progress bar time info..

None of the open source DVRs mentioned can or ever will be allowed to deal with DRM, and if Silicondust went open source it wouldn't be allowed either so it won't be happening. For those of us with DRM Silicondust is likely the only solution we are going to get in the long run so we DO need to press...

Re: workarounds

Passive cooling means heat sync, no fan, so as to not produce noise. Many of us trying to achieve as near to a silent htpc as possible use substantial metal fanless cases such as those manufactured by Streacom with heatpipe/heatsink solutions for the CPU. After going to that trouble the last thing ...

Re: workarounds

Define passive cooling? I believe GTS 450 and GTX 650ti support TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. Passive cooling means heat sync, no fan, so as to not produce noise. Many of us trying to achieve as near to a silent htpc as possible use substantial metal fanless cases such as those manufactured by Streacom wit...

Re: Quick status update & AMD GPU dilemma - 20160127

So if AMD is a problem, does Silicondust yet know if the Windows 10 app will support DRM MPEG4 with Integrated Intel graphics? When I and others pushed them on the point recently, Intel were very firm that the DRM MPEG4 problem experienced with MCE and Intel is an MCE problem, not an Intel problem, ...
