Re: Commercial detection and skipping

There are no commercial markings in the broadcast.

A good percentage of adverts do no contain closed captioning. No closed captioning due to an advert and no closed captioning due to nobody talking look the same.

Comskip still works pretty well. It would be great if the HDHomeRun app worked ...

Re: DRM error Shield TV

If we were the kind of company that just drops something for "the next shiny new thing" then all PRIME support would have ended at least five years ago, and we wouldn't still be supporting OTA tuners from nearly 20 years ago. The support we've given the PRIME is unprecedented in the consumer ...

Re: DRM error Shield TV

Nick wants to get Android working again, but CableCARD is a shrinking audience, so there's going to be a lot of things that are a higher priority right now.

I don't know what would be a higher priority than consumer confidence in your products. I'm about to give up on HDHomeRun altogether due to ...

Re: App is down

I don't have an iPad (or an iAnything) so I have no idea if a software update might have caused it.

There's a discussion in this thread about downloading HDHomeRun guide data with EPG123 for use in tivimate starting around page 12.

Re: New guide-centric UI approach

This is intentional - every Android remote should have a home button to exit the app.

Except I use my tv's remote with CEC so home only works on the TV not the android box.

I also use my TV remote with CEC and can't exit the app. It's a dumb TV so I don't even have a home button to also ...

I like it on my TV but it's not very user friendly on my phone.

Re: Encryption

Forcing an ATSC 3.0 deadline will require all TV sets to include an ATSC3.0 tuner. Once all TVs have this tuner then 95% of all OTA users will have a viable ATSC 3.0 solution and the small fraction of us who prefer a gateway device can be ignored. They don't want to fight SD, they want to bypass ...

Re: DRM error Shield TV

It wasn't that long ago the Android Boxes couldn't play DRM channels
after the last issue months ago, and then that was eventually fixed/updated.

This gets frustrating. All because of DRM licensing? and expirations?....

Just as I posted this

( the DRM channels are back up? on my android boxes ...

Re: DRM error Shield TV

I am still waiting for someone to confirm to me that the new shield update works properly for cablecard drm but your issue is probably with verizon and proper pairing.

CableCARD DRM is working for me after installing the Shield Experience 9.2 update. I also have Verizon Fios in Philadelphia. I ...

nick - nobody uses bluesky. you locked the thread so that people can't reply and tell you how cringe that is.

IMHO all social media is cringe.

Re: Encryption

Dunno if the mods will get back to you. But I think they block all references to any product that is even remotely competitive to SiliconDust products. I'd guess that they just don't want SD forum content appearing when someone does a google search about another product. Nothing to do with piracy ...

Re: Encryption

Cute, but I apparently wasn't clear. I was just suggesting an Android software player, no new hardware. Currently SiliconDust allows third parties to use their tuner, and I believe this drives much of their popularity. If SD is able to get a DRM certified solution, then I think it would be great ...
