Re: DVR engine wake windows 10 PC?

My android box, 4TB external drive and USB notebook cooler pad uses 15 watts when displaying video. 12 watts when just sitting there idle. So relatively low power use. However using the box as the main video display is terrible compared to WMC. Horrible lag in remote commands. Also the quality of th...

Re: New Interface - Lag

20190723 is when all the lag/guide issues started, mainly with an android box as the DVR player, but also with Windows 10. This would drive people that change channels a lot absolutely nuts. Even if you want to switch between two channels, it is painfully slow.

Re: PLEASE go back to old UI until this is ready

My android 8.1 box improved in responsiveness when I enable "early access to new features."

Re: PLEASE go back to old UI until this is ready

I agree. The responsiveness of the UI is incredibly slow on my Android box. It takes three or four seconds to respond to a remote command. The only positive is you added a setup menu.

Re: Win10 live view not playing full screen, task bar shows

Your method didn't work, just restored or maximized. What worked was pressing the F11 key.

Win10 live view not playing full screen, task bar shows

When I maximize the HD Homerun program in Windows 10, it shows the status bar on the top and the Windows task bar on the bottom of the screen. Not true full screen.

Re: Android box how to access hidden DVR menu with remote and how I got it to work as DVR

This setup has been rock solid working as the DVR and primary playback on my main TV. Runs 24/7 for the past couple of weeks, always records as scheduled and doesn't crash. Very stable. Only negative is 1080i channels, thankfully not many, have a subtle frame skipping during faster motion. WMC doesn...

Re: Why switch from Media Center to SD DVR?

Although WMC files are somewhat proprietary, Windows 10 will play them even without WMC.

Re: Why switch from Media Center to SD DVR?

I like WMC better than SD DVR. But I do like the fact that my android box, external 4tb drive and a couple of USB fans only draws between 12 and 15 watts, even with the app and box never sleeping. I'm going to try WMC for Windows 10 and see how that works. Advantages with WMC are the computer can go...

Re: 4TB on Android Box how to setup

The exFAT 4TB worked good recording a long show. So as of right now, my Android Box DVR is working perfectly. The negatives about this setup is it has to be running all the time, no sleep mode. This means the hard drive is spinning all the time. Since DVR recording is not very stressful on drives, a...

Re: Android box how to access hidden DVR menu with remote and how I got it to work as DVR

Final update. I formatted the 4TB to exFAT. The Android box recognized the full 4TB with no additional steps. Started HD app and after a few seconds, the DVR started and defaulted to the 4TB. I recommend formatting to exFAT any drive you connect to an Android box. NTFS will probably not work. If you...

Re: Android box how to access hidden DVR menu with remote and how I got it to work as DVR

For anyone following this, I tried formatting the 2TB to exFAT. When I connected to the Android box, the drive was accessible from the OS. So I went back to the HD app and after a minute, the exFAT formatted drive automatically defaulted to my DVR drive. This should solve the FAT32 4GB file limit pr...

Re: Android box how to access hidden DVR menu with remote and how I got it to work as DVR

I discovered the reason for videos stopping at 2hr 20 min mark. The drive was in fact formatted by Android as FAT32, with the 4GB file size limit. I could see and even play the recorded videos with Windows 10. What I will try next is to reformat it as an "internal" Android drive, not removable, and ...
