Re: Commercial detection and skipping
Not recently. I had a few years ago and could not get it working. The comskip forum was been taken down, so I can't even link to my post(s) there. They moved to Github. I am a few releases behind.... Jriver can actually play ATSC 3.0, decoding AC4 to 6 channels properly, but I don't watch or record ...

Re: Commercial detection and skipping
Are you sure the HDHR App does not honor .EDL markers during playback? If true, that's pretty sad.
I have a SD subscription that I use the guide info for in Jriver Media Center. Been using comskip with Jriver for 10 years, and WMC before that. Would it be difficult to add this feature to the HDHR ...

Re: Show ATSC 3.0 broadcasts?
Open the IP address of the tuner device in a web browser, then click "channel lineup", scroll to the bottom of the list to see your ATSC 3.0 stations.
Or get the Windows HDHR APP from the "MS Store".

Re: Encryption
This leads back to my question:jasonl wrote: Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:39 pm .....cable providers could choose to (or be required to as part of the carriage agreement) copy protect those channels.
Would the cable company DRM have to be compatible with the Prime tuners, and thus record and play in the Windows HDHR app?

Re: Encryption
Hypothetical:
If DRM on ATSC 3.0 survives and ATSC 1.0 gets shut down, what happens to locals on cable systems? Do they get DRM? What type of DRM? Cable company flavor, or A3SA flavor?
Big question:
After the "transition", would DRM'ed locals via cable card work in the HDHR Windows App ...

Re: Request previous Firmware
I don't know if it helps, but the BDA drivers for tuners 1-3 are never even loaded. Tuner 0 gets loaded and gets all the control commands, but there isn't any logging of the other tuners even being loaded, much less trying to tune.
1. Is this information that JRiver should already be aware of ...

Re: Request previous Firmware
Thank you for the reply.
Please note that my issue did not start until I upgraded the Firmware on my HDHR5-4K. A member of the Jriver dev team has an HDFX-4K with older firmware and cannot reproduce the issue.
So, has something changed in the newer Firmware as it relates to BDA, that can be ...

Re: Request previous Firmware
That would be my laptop. I was doing lots of testing today. Jriver scans every RF during setup looking for valid channels. I ran tv setup 4 or 5 times today, trying to figure this all out.
Made some progress.... For whatever reason, if I "facory reset" jriver, I don't get the critical error on the ...

Re: Request previous Firmware
Ya, but jriver logs show repeating attempts to start the second recording, pops up a "critical error", and finally starts recording about 15 seconds after the first one. Look closely at the start times.
Jriver asking if the device was asleep. Seems odd.

First, I was shocked when I saw that the Third Party Software sub-forum is completely gone

Re: HDHR5-4K resets often
Ok, I think I found it.
RabbitEars.info live band scan was setup on one of my machines a few years ago. Along with a windows task to reboot the tuner every day at 2:45pm to free up the tuner before prime time.
I swear that I had disabled these Windows task(s) a long time ago, but somehow they got ...

HDHR5-4K resets often
My cable card tuners have not reset/rebooted in over 2 months, but my HDHR5-4K tuner seems to run for about 24 hours then reboots itself! The log is showing:
Is this normal? Why is there a restart command so often?
Device ID 10801B08
Code: Select all
System: reset reason = restart commandDevice ID 10801B08
