Re: New TCL Smart TVs running Android TV

What does it run, a OLD dual core or something? I think the 825 has at least a quad core and it runs Roku fine but has issues trying to run the hd HomeRun app that my Shield of course runs fine when the main pc that runs it on my network is awake. Most somewhat modern Android devices are running som...

Re: New TCL Smart TVs running Android TV

Yes, if your record storage is on a PC the PC must be on. In my case both the storage and the record engine are on the NAS. If you connect the record drive to the TV and install the record engine on the TV it should be able to record stand alone Well thanks for that. Would be a good reason to get a...

Re: New TCL Smart TVs running Android TV

My Shield complained I needed a firmware update for the record to work on the program on Android. I updated and the record button showed up again and I could see the recordings that the HD HomeRun program had been recording all along and I could record things. When the PC is offline that it apparent...

Re: New TCL Smart TVs running Android TV

If it supports Android TV, which it does, it should be able to interact with your Prime. Roku can use my Prime as well but Android does a better job. You have to have the computer that is running it online with your network for the record to work as far as I can tell so far. You just have to load it...

Re: New TCL Smart TVs running Android TV

I wish I could retroactively switch my 2019 65 825 to Android TV. Roku is ok but I like Android better, it's more open and you can add or run just about anything. I have a Shield and a couple of Roku boxes plus the Shield and I usually use the Shield to run Plex. The Roku remote is so simple it's li...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

Interesting little box they came up with and dirt cheap right now. I guess as long as it supports 5ghz wifi it should be fine but would be nice to have wired net connection but probably not real practical in a dongle style box. Might be a nice alternative to a cheaper Roku box but Roku constantly up...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

A Roku Ultra would probably work provided it can deal with the atsc 3.0 standard and are cheap enough. You could watch for sales on the Shield, I bought mine from best buy with the game controller for 169 around black Friday a while back. It's the best streaming Android box I've had. I have both and...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

Well wishful thinking I guess but it takes what it takes. The DVR project took a long time but it's pretty much up and running now. If they ever get the subscription movie channel part working and get it to wake up the box to record I will probably stop using media center. I tried it on plex and it ...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

Well, everything must be all wrapped up as I was informed my pledge was charged today. Will be interesting to see how everything plays together with the Prime I already have. I tried the HD HomeRun app on Roku on my TCL and it sees the tuner and tries to load a channel, the light comes on, and it tr...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

I use a 4 outlet Motorola amplified splitter that's bidirectional and rated for cable and satellite use. Had it and a smaller version for years with no issues unless it gets unplugged. Everything on my X1 cable box works and the Prime is happy. You can find it on Amazon and probably ebay for a decen...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

When these things were released I don't think 4k was a big thing so never crossed my mind back then but the setup seems pretty open ended so it kinda makes sense that it works anyway as long as it can use whatever codec and all that it has. Comcast wants you to get a new 4k box so not sure if anythi...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

Well said screw it and upped to the developers edition. Might as well have all the toys to play with and maybe it'll help them if needed from us. I got my stimulus and still had some refund left, plus the extra on unemployment so we should be fine and I'll have a new toy to play with if we are still...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

Will CableCARD ever support 4k content? What would be the best option to future proof myself for ATSC 3.0? Will I need any other new hardware here? New TV? New Graphics card, etc? CableCARD already supports 4K HDR content and Verizon FIOS intermittently broadcasts sporting events in this format dep...

Re: HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0

Well I'm in even though I still have cable and a Prime. Maybe now I can capture some native 4k hdr stuff seeing how it says Portland Ore is one of the markets doing test runs. I'm sure I can find a cheap antenna somewhere. My buddy uses a bunch of quatros I think and records all the local news and t...

Re: TVJunkieMOD (Record, Request, Playback, Favorites +)

Well just added it to Kodi on here, had to set the zip file to a folder that Kodi could see then told it to add from zip file and it showed up right under the HDHomeRun app. Haven't really played with it much yet, just set the record folder and verified it's at least showing all my non DRM channels....
