Re: forgelink???
Industry trade shows aren't the spectacular consumer events they once were. This has been true for quite some time for most of these events.... Most have reverted back to just being a way for people in the industry to network together And the "in the hallway, without attribution" communic...

Re: Spectrum sent me new Cablecards
By the way in Birmingham, they just sent new cards because the older ones would stop working for some reason. For SA/Cisco/Technicolor PowerKey CableCARDs the "Time Warp" bug will hit in late November and then fail to operate. While fixes to the bug were made available for recent variants...

Re: Background channel scan
Is there a way to turn off the background channel scan which occurs every 3 days or so? I have an issue here in the UK where I am between 2 transmitters (1 in Wales and 1 in England) so if the background channel scan occurs during high pressure I lose my regional variations for BBC channels (BBC 1 ...

QAM
Unfortunately it's going to be a lot. Outside of some must haves/contractual obligations like ACC Network, in most areas Xfinity stopped adding new QAM HD channels a few years ago. Most of the affected channels still have their SD feed in QAM, but others might be IP/X1 exclusives. As with all else,...

Re: HDHomeRun PRIME Not Picking Up All Channels
Could the issue be it says NONE next to "Card Validation"? Yes. You will need to work with Comcast to get the card properly validated. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes it is hard. It depends on the details as to the "why". Note that as the CableCARDs in an OCUR/UDCP device are on...

Re: Cable card no HD channels Xfinity
After the last firmware update, I could not receive any HD channels from xfinity. In my area the HD channels are from about 650-800. I only receive 55 channels in the ranges 0-264 and 1024-1191. Any ideas? Something you can try is to contact the Comcast CableCARD support CSRs, and try words somethi...

Re: 4 year old Hdhomerun just died..
So I bought a hdhomerun about 4 years and change ago and today it "died" A common cause is the power supply failed (pretty much every consumer power supply/adapter ends up having a limited lifetime). SiliconDust sells replacement power supplies in their store, and they document the specif...

Re: cablecard no longer supported
I'm assuming this is Optimum/Altice? I think, technically, Optimum/Altice only indicated CableCARDs would stop working in October, and was vague about the exact date (although the wording of the email/letter suggested earlier rather than later), and the underlying PowerKEY Time Warp bug does not ac...

Re: IP Address Locked outside of DHCP range
I would say you must have a rogue dhcp server on the network if the connect is indeed getting that address (it has to get that address via dhcp nothing else)... A common case of shooting one's self in the foot is installing and running a virtualization platform without proper configuration of the p...

Re: Any current Spectrum users here?
You *must* use a CableCARD and Tuning Adapter issued by Charter to your account (you can't use one acquired from another source), as the provisioning systems check Charter's inventory before activation. Unfortunately, Charter is no longer issuing CableCARDs to anyone (and that includes Tuning Adapte...

Comcast ending new CableCARD availability
I saw this notice on a recent Comcast bill for a client: Equipment Update: Starting on October 24, 2024, Xfinity will no longer provide new CableCARDs to new or existing customers. If you require new TV equipment, please call 1-800-xfinity to speak with an agent who can assist. Presumably, at least ...

Re: Unofficial HDHomeRun DVR repository for RPM based systems
Just a FYI... As EL7 is now EOS (End Of Support, without a very expensive support contract from RedHat that I do not have), and the EL7 repositories have moved to the (frozen) vault, and the build mock configurations that I have been using have been removed upstream (EL7 is EOS), the DVR will no lon...

Re: Channel lineup
The manual channel scan will always remove non-present channels. And, if the OP thinks about it, they would want to do so. If one moves the device from one location to another one would want to not only add channels, but remove no longer available ones. Now, perhaps, there should be other options (...

We have discontinued support for the GTK version of HDHomeRun Config GUI. Thanks. I guess I must have completely missed the EOL announcement. My bad. I believe I saw it on a download page ( here: https://info.hdhomerun.com/info/linux and a reference here: https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtop...

Re: Encryption
Why broadcasters don't simply ditch the now long obsolete and inefficient MPEG-2 compression on the 1.0 signals and switch to MPEG-4 AVC to help alleviate the effects of the increased spectrum crunch caused by the creation of the 3.0 Lighthouse stations is beyond me. As I recall that in order to en...
