Re: Channels DVR + DRM

Ah, that's good to know. Glad they can't get out of the requirement on a technicality.

Re: ATSC 3.0 TV is Starting to Roll Out This Year in 40 Markets

Your solution doesn't take into consideration shows like the current Doctor Who, Killing Eve, Top Gear, etc. Uh... Yes it does. All three of those are on the sites I mentioned (The most recent seasons are even available for free if you're a Prime subscriber). Sure you might have to wait a day for t...

Re: ATSC 3.0 TV is Starting to Roll Out This Year in 40 Markets

I am a long time Fios TV customer with a Gig Internet and Ultimate TV. I pay $250 a month. Much of the TV I pay for I never watch. I watch no Sports but yet pay a Regional Sports Tax of $7 and have to pay for ESPN, etc. All this so I can watch BBC America which is only in the Fios Ultimate Tier. I ...

Re: ATSC 3.0 TV is Starting to Roll Out This Year in 40 Markets

Fox as in the Fox Network and not one of the sub stations? Yes, Fox, as in the channel that airs new episodes of the Simpsons and Family Guy and whatever else is on that channel. CBS and Fox (and Grit) were on KSBB in Santa Barbara, with CBS being the primary channel. KSBB switched to ATSC 3.0. The...

Re: ATSC 3.0 TV is Starting to Roll Out This Year in 40 Markets

No, the current hardware is designed entirely around ATSC 1.0. With that said, the gov't requires that places that roll out 3.0 continue to support the current standard for many years to come. They only require the primary channel to be available on ATSC 1.0. We've already seen channel losses in Sa...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

Do you know if ATSC 3 will have a further range at the same frequencies? No, it will not. Is it a change in the wave length that will allow it to reach places current ATSC 1 doesn't? Yes. It will handle multipath much better than ATSC 1.0, so it will be better anywhere without direct line of sight ...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

Just FYI... DRM was possible on ATSC 1.0. In fact, it was more than possible; it happened. The company that tried? Yeah, they're out of business now... So, I'm not saying it won't happen with ATSC 3.0. But unless it's a co-ordinated and planned effort by all the major networks to be implemented acro...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

But that is only AFTER SD makes an ATSC 3.0 tuner. Are there currently any? The only place I'm aware of that consumers can get ATSC 3.0 tuners at the moment is in South Korea. TV manufacturers pretty much ignored ATSC 3.0 at CES this year. There won't be adapters? Adapters for what? You mean like t...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

Sinclair can roll to their heart's content. I'm not replacing a couple thousand $$$ worth of TVs and stuff for ATSC 3. Well, that's one good thing about being in the HDHomeRun ecosystem... You can keep using all the same TVs and your current HDHomeRun ATSC 1.0 tuner(s) and just add a HDHomeRun ATSC...

Re: DRM Windows 10 app C# embed

So i take it thats where we are leaving this discussion at? I'm guessing SD does not want to provide any support for using their app in this way. As long as you need DRM support, probably the only thing you can do would be to have your app launch WMC or the HDHomeRun app and let that app take over ...
