Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

Do you know if ATSC 3 will have a further range at the same frequencies? No, it will not. Is it a change in the wave length that will allow it to reach places current ATSC 1 doesn't? Yes. It will handle multipath much better than ATSC 1.0, so it will be better anywhere without direct line of sight ...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

Just FYI... DRM was possible on ATSC 1.0. In fact, it was more than possible; it happened. The company that tried? Yeah, they're out of business now... So, I'm not saying it won't happen with ATSC 3.0. But unless it's a co-ordinated and planned effort by all the major networks to be implemented acro...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

But that is only AFTER SD makes an ATSC 3.0 tuner. Are there currently any? The only place I'm aware of that consumers can get ATSC 3.0 tuners at the moment is in South Korea. TV manufacturers pretty much ignored ATSC 3.0 at CES this year. There won't be adapters? Adapters for what? You mean like t...

Re: Sinclair Planning to Rollout ATSC 3.0 this year

Sinclair can roll to their heart's content. I'm not replacing a couple thousand $$$ worth of TVs and stuff for ATSC 3. Well, that's one good thing about being in the HDHomeRun ecosystem... You can keep using all the same TVs and your current HDHomeRun ATSC 1.0 tuner(s) and just add a HDHomeRun ATSC...

Try rebooting your Shield, if you have not yet done that.

Re: Network Regional Feeds

Here is what I am suggesting. Find one of each ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CW affiliates in middle of nowhere Kentucky and one of each in middle of nowhere Oregon or wherever. Now you have an east and west feed for each Network so people can watch and DVR Prime Time TV shows like Big Bang Theory, 911, E...

Re: Network Regional Feeds

While I live in an area that's difficult to get OTA signal as well, I support SD's decision to not provide those. It just bumps up the cost for all the people that can get OTA. Rather, I'd like to see a DVR platform that worked with ****** and/or LocalBTV as well as HDHR Premium TV (I understand if ...

Re: Some of us are actually happy

I still use WMC on my old HTPC running Windows 7. It still gets guide data for free (If it does stop getting guide data before I can move on, I will probably switch to that 3rd party plugin to get the data from schedules direct for the yearly fee). Would I love for SD to support DRM recording so I c...

Re: Network Stream in Digital Signage

You mentioned Android TV, not sure if your signage runs that, but if you have Live Channels, the HDHomeRun app, or VLC (if the channel is copy-freely) installed, you can play back a channel and then put it in PIP mode, and then load whatever app you want in the background (as long as it doesn't play...

Re: Suggestions for problems with Tuning Adapter?

Status light should be solid. If you haven't, try unplugging the power and usb, then just plug in the power and see if it goes solid, then plug in the usb.

Re: Stage 2?

I really wish cable* providers would start sending out 1080p feeds, already. Interlacing really needs to go the way of the dodo. *OTA broadcasters would be great too, but I can understand they wouldn't want to provide a higher resolution than they broadcast. It would also be nice if they would broad...

Re: OTA Signal Measurements

So experts..what is the FCC repack all about? Is it to refurb some towers to move channels into the UHF band with less power output? Quite the opposite. They are taking away UHF space, so a lot of channels are moving back to VHF (some even into VHF-Lo, in Los Angeles actually every VHF-Lo channel i...

Re: DRM Windows 10 app C# embed

So i take it thats where we are leaving this discussion at? I'm guessing SD does not want to provide any support for using their app in this way. As long as you need DRM support, probably the only thing you can do would be to have your app launch WMC or the HDHomeRun app and let that app take over ...

Re: Premium TV - Video Quality

Agreed with Demonrik, the de-interlacing really kills it for my viewing. Watching 1080i sourced is so annoying. I'm not an encoding guru, but as a video editor it's still painful. Yeah, I hate interlaced content (because it's so rarely de-interlaced properly). It's an artifact of analog broadcastin...

Re: Lineup Requests for Premium TV

Shouldn't you just have A lineup request thread with just channels and no commentary … hard to know what is being requested in this thread. That way SD can see what channels are most requested.
Fairly certain that is the purpose of this thread. People have just gone off on a couple tangents.
